Is this a bad idea?

so I had the spark plug out and a small piece of rubber insulation fell inside the head. I know I should take the head off and take it out but what would happen if I left it in

I would say take it out for sure. Try turning the car upside down and shaking it out.

Don't leave it in. You might be able to get it out easier through the exhaust port.

I'll probably just take the head off to get it out cause I've been having problems with it flooding so if I take the head off I can clean it really good and now that I have a new 668 walbro it should be better

If your going to pull the head off, it would be a great time to install a ported head kit. It's more fun getting it back together knowing it will be faster.

You are correct. The only thing you probably want to do is use a reinforced gasket. There are better ones than what comes with the kit.
