Is this motor worth it?

if you want my opinion it would be as good as any bog standard engine out there, the cy are grand but its like comparing a honda bike to an aprillia.
or a nissan to a skoda...
i mean the thing about these engines they are pretty basic all of them, but you just cant rely on cy i think, there cylinder plating can and is softer than zenoah, the outer casings where you will be bolting on stuff sheer off easily...just a pain in the a**

if you want to know the truth, save the extra few quid and buy a zenoah(any cc) rock solid reliality and great power,in my opinion a 23cc zenoah would eat a 29cc cy,i have had both and its the truth.

the best of the bunch if you could and is prob the cheapest best performing of the bunch is the zenoah G260. excellent motor.

or the new four bolt zenoah G270 but that is a bit more $

save youself a lot of grief and stay clear of cy.
its easy to c y zenoah is the best lol

Just searching my favorite site and cam across this. Now i know its not a ddm or oneil motor but i was wondering for a basic upgrade is it worth the money. It seems a lil overated. Not to mention i has a very high octane rating needed.

I believe this is the same motor... http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/c.885035/n.1/it.A/id.4491/.f

I know it is more money, but at least you can see a little more about it. I personally tend to steer clear of ebay. I have been stung too many times. The choice is yours, but I would like to ask... What are you planning on putting the 27 in?

Good luck and all the best!

DC2 I have a question for you, what is an Aprilla? And a Skoda??? I am an American (and so is the person that started this thread) I have NO idea what that is! LMAO!!!

We can't get cool Euro toys over here!

But you are right, Zenoah is about the best you can get, but if someone is on a budget, a Zen may not be affordable. I have read many posts about the billet headed CY motors being junk, maybe you got a bad one too? Just a thought...

well an aprillia is a well known bike manufacturer in italy, my opinion crap(small bikes anyway like two strokes)

skoda is a car manufacturer who builds volkswagon copies, but i think they are also crap, was just an example of comparison.

get it,got it? good......lol

haha
just let it running now this evening for half a tank ticking over out in the yard.
too cold here now and too much snow to drive it now.
cant wait to run it in to see the differnce..

i would think it should be a monster with the jetpro and all.
what you up to with your own at the moment?

did you get your engine, why don't you start up your own rebuild thread too, would be cool..

$hit, I am still waiting on the "Box-O-Fun" It's been a week now. I don't have a digital camera anymore, all I have is a web cam, but I am thinking about posting a build... But, we should probably talk about this in another thread, we have pretty much gotten way off the subject of the original topic! I'm Sorry BigDawg 70!!!

i am not cutting cy,my experience with them was grand but i would just prefer the zenoah, trip as far as i know the one you are getting from what i hear are supposed to be great, better cylinder plating etc etc

i just had a few bad faults with mine and taught it was quite soft
im a zenoah man,my opinion lads

this is a stock CY 25mm bore cylinder (same as the CY29RC) and has a stock 28mm crank opposed to the 30mm crank the 29cc uses.

i would pass on it just because its the 35mm bore cylinder/piston. this is by far the worst motor CY makes, other than the GP290, most cy motors are only adequate at best imho.

Careful not to let it just idle at break in. Your other engine the 29, is that also how it was broke in? I have heard if a motor is just idled around it will set the ring differently and create blow by the ring like you can see on the 29 piston. I don't think its a big motor ending thing but you have to replace the ring to reset it. Just what I've heard. May want to follow ESP'd break in and tune up in the Tune up thread. It takes you through good tune up procedure and by the time your done your broke in. He recommends starting out at 13/4 H and 13/4 L and tuning from there.:)

This is directed towards the post from BIG DAWG 70? Correct????

mmm ur opinion

no i didnt let it sit there on tick over long at all very little fuel used,i never break in an engine this way was just the fact that the snow was too heavy today to drive the car.

which cy had ring problems?
my cy is grand. never had any bother with it.
and it was broken in driving it,at low speeds for at least two tanks.

at the end of the day lads common knowledge and everybody knows that two strokes don't even need break in,how do you run a chainsaw when you buy it two or three tanks cutting really slow :clown:

well i do break them in to be sure anyway, best to really, but never break them in ideling..

timmah thats your opinion man on the cy
my cy was a cy29cc with 2mm stuffed stroker crank with billet head and chrome shrowds, the engine was 'mecaniclly good' and i was told the best choice of the cy's actually in the uk.

its just the bloddy outter casings and every thread on this engine sheers, they use there matireals too soft.

I can't believe how far off topic we all got... But it happens, we are all friends on here and we have a tendency to jibber jabber... All I can say, which is what anyone on here would say. "You get what you pay for". If the engine is for something you, "Just have fun with" then maybe the CY 27 is worth a shot? If you want the best then look at the Zenoah line of motors...

But again, you get what you pay for, alot of guys on here pay more than $140 for just a head kit... Give it some thought and ask all the questions you need to.

Trip..

im not sure what you mean trip by off topic, isnt he learning(bigdog) here abouts our thoughts about cy's....

i mean what are we supposed to be talking about?
cheese......

not being smart trip,u sound like a nice fella,im just saying im not sure about all the critisisim.....

Don't take it wrong. Just a bit of info I've read around from the motor guys. See that staining on the side of the piston. That looks like blow by but, I could be wrong.

Damn, everybody is a critic!!! LOL I was trying to get back to the topic of this thread!! LOL

I know I'm sorry all.

its just the bloddy outter casings and every thread on this engine sheers, they use there matireals too soft.

I think, without talking for you "T", that is what he is saying. The bore and power is not the problem but the material and how it is plated.:)

i think btb not being smart thats the flash from my camera.

honestly the piston and head was perfect, sorry for the bad pictures

it was spot on...just some carbon build up.
some times people picks up things wrong.
trip,i wasnt insulting cy's,was just my experience with them.

i don't critisise good info btb, thats what this forum is all about,i don't get insulted with other peoples opinions on engines,is that blow by you think? i taught that is harmless carbon build up,if you think it is blow by,what do you think caused it?
