I'm having an issue with the idle on my 30cc engine. It cold idles fine, steady and low tone. After running for a few minutes, when it's warm the idle raises up gets pretty loud and stays that way. Is this normal?

Mine does that too. My tuning changes some after it is warmed up also. I first thought air leak myself. I added a new aluminum intake with all new gaskets. It made no difference for me. I blame my issues on the stock carb.

Thnx for the input guys. I think it's the stock carb too so I won't mess with

It now that I know. Probably would've just drove me crazy.

One of mine does that also but its just the opposite. It want idle at all cold I have to keep revving the engine to keep it crank then once I run up and down the street or keep revving for about 2 mins. Then it idles just great with no problems I had blamed it on the carb also.

probably just the fact that the stock carberator does not like to hold a tune. I am still using the stock carb on mine and it dosnt quite race up like yours but instead when the engine is tuned perfectly on the high end, i bog down off the line. Any of the walboros you can order online should do the trick.. unless someone on the forum knows a trick to the stock carbs.. and if someone knows, they will help you out as soon as they see ur post. Good luck friend

If you richen up the low needle and raise the idle to compensate it should hold a idle without effecting top end performance. I was having problems with stalling after wot. It worked but now I have elevated idle once it is hot.

Yes I did that also so I just preferred to just warm it up first and then let it idle it seems to run better that way and has much of a lower steady idle then when I tried to lean out the low needle then adjust the idle screw. so I put it back it only does it on the dune runner none of may other rampages does this. Thats why I blamed it on the carb.

im glad im not the only one having this problem. i had to adjust the low speed to start it and then had to adjust it when it got warm so it didnt idle so high. venting the gas cap did help and now its not perfect but i don't have to adjust it when starting. i still have to adjust it a little somtimes but the gas cap vent helped a lot.

i knew something was screwed up when i seen my gas tank caved in from the carb sucking pressure LOL. but yea i reckon its the pos carb.

Well, I did turn my idle screw to slow it down a bit and that seemed to do it. When it warmed up, it didnt idle as high/loud. Not perfect but it helped a little. But I only decreased the idle by like 1/16th of a turn. Then later I tried to fire it up and it wouldnt start, thought it was the plug but that was fine. Think I flooded it because the choke was closed when I was trying to start it and it was still hot from the last run which was like 10min prior. It was a really weak idle when I finally got it going, so I ended up raising it a tad. :) So I honestly don't know if I made a diff in the idle adjustment, but it does idle lower now when warmed up. Good enough for me now. Now after about 4 tanks of fuel, my tire foams are history, ridiculous.
