should be fine mike, thats how i clean mine, but make sure you cover it in wd40 though mate, i made that mistake and had to change all the bearings

I would not use WD40 on your bearings unless you are tearing them down. WD40 is a great product but will act as a degreaser on your bearings. You will need to re grease the bearings if using it.
Good old tooth brush and bucket of warm soapy water is best but tedious I agree...

What model are you washing?

A pressure washer is and always will be my preferred way to clean mine....

First I take out the radio box...then the filter off and plug the carb with a little bit of rag...then plug the pipe with another little bit of rag...THEN I drown the bugger with water based degreaser..eg.. 'sodium hydroxide & alkaline salts'....let sit for 5 mins.....then blast the hell out of it with my Karcher pressure washer..

Stand it on it's bum to drip dry for half hour.....then hit it in all the nooks and cranny's with compressed air..........

Squeeky clean Baja once again !!!!!!

Iv'e been cleaning it this way for near 2 years now......

NO PROBLEMS EVER.....

i washed it be for and let it drip dry and then sprayed it with oil and i wil refit the radio tmoz the best and easyist way upto now

if you have access to a compressed air supply then this is my preffered way to clean no nead to strip down or anything like that but every few times still have a good break down and get in all those hard to reach places

wd40 is made from fish oil, so it's not a lubricant. I use gunk liquid wrench. spray it down with cleaner, blast it off with the water, blow it out with air, hit the bearings and any electronics you got wet with brake cleaner (evaporates water) then again with the air compressor then spray liquid wrench all over the bearings to keep them from rusting. it's actually a lubricant as well.

I don't like wd-40 for anything but cleaning/water removal. For lubrication I always hit my bearings with Slick 50 One Lube. It's the bomb...if you can find it. According to the manufacturer, only Ace hardware, True Value hardware, and NAPA have ordered any in the last year. I think I'm going to have to stock up and get 3 or 4 cans in case they quit making it all together. I've been using the same can for the last 10 years, but it's about empty now.

I don't use water to clean my RC cars, I use compressed air. You don't have to remove anything before you blow it off, and you don't have to wait for it to dry. You just blow, and go.
