I got mine in under 5 days from purchase.
Just a little info for ya,
The 805bb is a good high torque analog servo. Plastic gears. Plastic case. Bigger in overall size.
The 5745 is a good high torque digital servo. Metal gears. Metal case. Smaller then the 805 and you need the adapter in the FG servo plate.
The digital servos out perform the analog in this situation due to the holding strength/power.
Why Hitec has not made a metal gear upgrade for the 805bb is beyond my comprehension. They make a metal case upgrade.
The 805bb takes 700ma to run and the 5745mg takes 840ma. With either you need a "Y" connector if using it in an older
BEC receiver. With out bypassing the old
BEC it will limit your out put to 4.8V.
What type of radio system and rx are you using?
I have had a 5745 for 3 trouble free years! I killed my 5745 servo when I hit a puddle that was as deep as the windows of my truck... Kind of like a submarine! lol ...I didn't want to buy a new 65 dollar servo, so I bought an alloy servo tray, a 5745, a 645mg and a battery from Large Scale Alloy (a member on this forum) for $125. As it turned out, both servos were junk and the screw holes in the radio tray were stripped out... This is by no means, the fault of Large scale alloy, he checked them and they worked. So he sold them, just like any of us would..
The servos worked when I got them, but I didn't test them properly... I just hooked them to my receiver and the servos moved, so I said, "OK they work, good enough"...
After I installed them in my truck, the steering servo did work, but only for a few minutes.. Like I said, this is not the fault of anyone but myself... I should have checked them over more thoroughly. As a side note, Large Scale Alloy was a great person/company to deal with, shipping was very fast and it came packaged ready to take on a nuclear attack!! Good guys to deal with! This was not his own personal radio gear, but something he had, that he wanted to sell... I am sure he did, just as I did and hooked up a battery to see if the servos worked. They worked, so sell them. I would have done the same thing. Please understand I am not complaining..
OK, now... Today, as I had mentioned, I ordered a new 5745 from Tom's (thanks BTB for the link!) I am going to send in the 1 burnt 5745 (from the puddle) and 1 slow, weak 5745 (from the video posted in this thread) along with my burnt 5955 (also from the puddle) to Hitec, to see if they can be fixed... I am going to need a 5745 for the Mutilator buggy for Meli and I would like to either have one as a spare, or maybe have 2 on my truck...
I skipped the idea of the 805 because of the plastic gears. Like BTB said, it sure would be nice if Hitec would make a metal gear version!!! (Are you listening Hitec?)
As far as my radio gear, I am using an Airtronics Caliber 3ps from 1993 (it's the only radio I trust) and my receiver is a Futaba (brand new design from 2008) with a built in failsafe...
Here is a pic of my controller...
Trip..
