Hey guys I just picked up a Baja for an unbelievable price. Anyway this is my very first baja 5t so I need your help. First of all what should I do to it when I get it like maintenance and stuff. What should I look for as far as common issues. And what recommended upgrades do you suggest that I need to get immediately I bought this baja 5 t from a guy in lithuania he said that he raced it twice, and that it had 10 tanks of gas through. It was a steal so I had to buy it any way this is my very fist 1/5 scale I had nitros before and that was it so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

go over it like you would a nitro car and just look for wear and broken pieces. replace or upgrade as you find problems. check the diff for oil as well as the shocks . then have fun

How do I check the diff and shocks for oil? And what kind and how much oil do I put in it? Also is 10 tanks bad for a baja ? I havnt got it yet but he said in his add that everything works and all the electronics work as well I paid $320.00 what do you think?

320 for a 10 tank old baja 5t is a sweet deal. as for how to do it down load the baja 5t manual from hpi racings website every one is different for shock set up and diff set up but in the shocks you want a petrolium based oil around 10w in the rear and 40w in the fronts.

Nice deal! As stated, go to HPI's website and download the 5T and or the SS manuel. I would personally do a full tear down and go through every nut and bolt so to speak. Also take a good look at the clutch. Depending how hard it was ran, I've seen a clutch get wiped out in 10 tanks. Make sure your fuel line is good. Usually the black stock line starts to crack and get brittle. Check all gaskets on the motor and make sure there is no wetness. As you put it back together use a good grease in the trans and drive cups and make sure the boots aren't torn. Goodluck and congrats

Please tell me the OP has this 5T in his possesion already. I only ask as I seen many ebay Baja 5T listings from Lithuania with a ridulously cheap Buy It Now price. Also with the usual low run times and in the pics the 5T looks pristine, looks basically new. Like many people and potential buyers before, all got suckered into it because of the really low price and eventually got scammed. I for one admitt, I was tempted to click on the Buy It Now, but it was from Europe and the seller had little or no feedback and the account was fairly new.
