double post for some as i see a few familiar names on this board:)

This is my first 1/5 scale and I been eyeing them for a while. I was very close to pulling the trigger on a ksrc-002 which was gonna cost me 575 shipped. But this came along.

bL6Xal.webp

I picked it up for $535 total. It's a Baja 5b ss kit. All I need is a rx/tx and I have a few traxxas links sitting around but I will be keeping my eyes open for a deal on a futaba due to the killer bee issues. Much rather have a v2 on this new car.

One thing I didn't notice when I picked it up or in the pics I saw was it didn't have the tuned exhaust. Doesn't the 5b ss kit include it? I have the box at home I will check it later but anyways to late for that.

Any recommendations will be cool. What should I run through and check before running it if anything(previous owner says it has about a gallon worth of run time) and the kit was purchased 2 months ago from ddm.

my ddm cart consist of the following so far :D

killer bee v2
killer cables
Rear hostile mx knobby Hard compound
Rear hostile zero growth foam's
silverback lipped bead lock's
TR top plate

Before you run it i would go over it make sure everything is tight, make sure the airfilter is clean and oiled, install your killerbee kill switch, and remember you still breaking the motor in so run it rich for another tank or two, with 20min runtimes letting the engine fully cool between runs also you want to vary the revs and not use full throttle, you also should run a quality 2 stroke oil, maxima 927 castor oil is what o'neill brothers racing uses and recommends....have fun!!

Welcome to the forum.

Yes the SS kit came with a so called tuned pipe but it is not a whole lot better then the can. Does it have any up grades or all stock? Did it come with a body? I bought my 5b SS kit from DDM over 3 years ago. Looking at the rear tires looks like it has been run quite a bit or are those slicks? The stock tires do not last real long. Has it been broke in or is it new?

This is what I recommend as the first up grades. I see you all ready are going to get a remote kill switch. Make sure you go to Killer RC web site and check out the radio compatibility in his FAQ section if you have not yet.

Number one up grade in my opinion is mandatory on a 25 to 35 pound large scale. Remote kill switch. If you have a runaway with a large scale it is a BIG liability not counting the damage to your vehicle.

Second is a Turtle racing clutch system.
None for breaking pinion gear bolts and not only does the TR system quire it but has other benefits as well.

Third all 3 outerwears pre-filters, air filter, pull starter and case. Helps keep air filter clean. The others keep dirt, grass and small rocks out of the flywheel. Before I ran my case pre-filter I got a small stone in the flywheel that broke 3 fins off it and locked up the motor.

Froth Turtle racing front upper brace and Scorpion lower chassis brace. The baja is none for bending the chassis at the front with a hard impact of landing on the nose off a jump. With the above which I have been running for 3 years I have nose dived off a jump many times and so far have not bent my chassis.

Thanks fellas!

This is exactly the one I picked up..

Local so I saved on the shipping also.

The previous owner said he has about a gallon through it.. I take it the break in period is over with? Those are also hostile slicks he was running it on a oval track if I'm not mistaken.

I'll be placing a order with ddm this week and the carts looking like 200+ already! Let the fun begin!
