Just picked up a Rampage MT, practically stole it.

So I've been interested in a new Rampage MT, but haven't really had the cash. Well I watch my local online want ads for deals on RC cars, and today a new Rampage MT popped up. It was listed for $800 using the same promotional picture as all of them on Ebay. I nearly skipped over it thinking it was just a dealer offering a new one. In the title it mentioned modded. I clicked on it expecting nothing spectacular. Turns out, it was a steal, so I gathered the funds, and picked it up.

It appears to be a V2, brand new, and the mods include a 4.5hp 30.5 ESP Zenoah, a Jetpro pipe, the good upgraded servos, and some other minor upgrades. Also included is the never ran stock 26cc, and all the stock parts.

Anyway, it was listed for $800, I offered $700, and he said he is keeping the radio and receiver, so "how about $600?" So YES, I got it for $600 with everything except the TX/RX (which is fine). And it's all brand new! I just got home with it about 30 mins ago (It was about and hour and a half away). I'm anxious to get it going. The only things I plan to upgrade as soon as possible are the gears. It still has all the plastic drive gears. Aside from that, I'll upgrade stuff as it fails. It's a nice rig though, and looks to be pretty stout. I'm excited to finally have a 4WD, and one with some expensive mods already done.

I got a good deal on all of them, plus I sold off nearly all my nitros (about 5 of them) to purchase the T1000 and part of this Rampage.

As with all RC's maintained in quantities, the upkeep can sometimes become overwhelming. My nitros nearly finished me. When I'd take them out for a day of bashing, I'd take them all because some wouldn't start and the others would break and within a few hours I was hauling them all back home with everyone of them needing something minor or major. It became more work than fun. So down the road they went.

These 1/5's, even though I'll break a part or two here and there, just seem to be less work, and less headache. They always run, and just overall tend to be more reliable, and durable.

With the purchase of this MT, I'll probably sell the HPI 5B. I've hardly used it since I got the T1000, and now I can't see me using it at all. That should help relieve the financial strain of 3 1/5's, and worse, the desire to modify 3 1/5's. When owning virtually 2 of the same vehicle (5B, T1000), and there is a failure, I have to consider purchasing 2 of the upgraded parts so that failure doesn't happen in either vehicle. However, the advantage of owning 2 of the same, is a pile of spare parts that fit both.

Anyway, This MT is pretty killer, and quite a different beast than the Bajas. I'm anxious to get it out there and get it dirty.

Here is my wheel/tire combo I'll be adding to it. They're Hostile rear, and Desperado rears from a 5B all around. I don't have the correct wheel adaptors yet, but this is what it looks like:

Today I loaded up the Rampage and the KM T1000, and the supporting goods. Drove to my local bash spot, got everything laid out. Fired up the Rampage and let it warm up. Then realized I'd overlooked something. I forgot to charge the batter pack. I've been so thrilled about getting it, I didn't even think about it possibly needing a charge. It had just enough juice for a loop around my car, and the little tinkering I did with it at home. lol. So, I put that one away and finished breaking in the Zanoah in my T1000, then proceeded to ring the life out of it for another hour.

The good news is, my Rampage still looks brand new, and my T1000 with the new Zenoah took an hour of hammering on it without a problem at all. The Zanoah and the 2 speed make a very nice combination. I'm anxious to get the Rampage broke in so I can see how it performs.
