I'm having trouble with my killswitch again. It is randomly engaging and I cannot explain why. It is very frustrating because I can't get more than 4 or 5 minutes of run time before it shuts off and gives me a red light. It is well within range and my batteries for the transmitter and truck are both fully charged.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not the recommended one that I have read about. I know an NGK plug is recommended because others seem to cause interference. It currently has whatever came in it from the factory.

I just snapped my pullstart so it will be a while before I get to test a different spark plug.

Now the question at hand since I cannot diagnose the kill switch issue is should I get an electric start or another pull start.

An even better question, if I do go with another pullstart, is it worth it to get a nicer upgraded one like Turtle Racing or should I go with another stock one?

I would try a plug first. It seems to be the issue 90% of the time.

If you get a new pull-start, I would at least get one with a metal prawl. They last longer.

If it's in the budget the Turtle starters are very nice.

I may run to the local autozone and grab the plug today since they have 3 in stock. Might check to see if they have a pullstart that would work since it's basically the same as a weedeater or chainsaw. If they don't have one with metal innards I'll probably just hold off.

Since it seems like the pullstart is a very consumable part, do any companies offer a warranty with their pullstart?

I don't believe so. It's one of those parts we like to have a backup for when they break.

Yeah I would think it would make more sense to learn how to rebuild one. Is there another good brand to look at that is a little less expensive than Turtle Racing?

Also I attempted to take my broken one apart to learn how it worked and why it failed but the Allen screw would not come out. I actually stripped my Allen wrench trying to get it apart.

I think I am going to go ahead with a drill starter system.

This shows to be a 20v. Do you guys think this would do the job? I like that it is smaller than most drills and it comes with all kinds of goodies so I could use it for many other things besides just starting up my rampage. And heck for the price, it seems like a heck of a deal.

As far as the engine side I will just need the following:

http://www.davesmotors.com/eg418PSpowerstarter.html

That one will work with my particular engine correct?

Also, does that starter kit include the piston stopper? I know it says you will need one, and it says the drill bit is NOT included, but it doesn't say whether or not it has a flywheel or piston stopper included.

20v should be enough. KillerRC recommends 18v and higher for there starter.

Yes that starter will fit on the HY engine.

Looks like that Walmart drill I found was a typo. It is only a 3.6v not a 20v. I think I am just going to get this guy:http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay?partNumber=372918-65481-49MRBESY966&langId=-1&storeId=10151&productId=3606316&catalogId=10051&cmRelshp=req&rel=nofollow&cId=PDIO1

mvaughn12 on here originally found this particular tool and said that it worked perfectly. It also includes the drill bit already installed in it.
LOL 3v would never handle it.

Yeah that would be a far cry from working. I am glad I searched the part number on google to find out that it was mis-labeled on Walmart's website.

Back to the original topic, I ran out to the local Autozone and picked up the recommended NGK plug. I will report back after my new starter arrives and let you guys know if the plug does the trick. Also, is this plug pre-gapped or does it need to be gapped accordingly? If it does need to be gapped what are the specs?

Thank you Rob.

I am ordering my starter now. Since DDM has free shipping on orders over $100 that was an excuse to buy a few more things while I was getting the starter. I am picking up an inclined shredstack, an HPI air filter, and some air filter oil.

The pullstart breaking was a blessing in disguise. Now I get to check some of the goodies off my list that I have been wanting to get. :)
