I am trying to fit a killer bee to my futaba 3pk with spektrum module set up and although I have got it to work fine on the 3rd channel and if I disconnect the rx battery, it won't stop the engine when I switch off the tx.
I have tried all sorts but whatever I do the killer bee light remains on when I turn off the tx.
Any ideas as this is driving me crazy.
 
Ok the V1 doesn't kill the engine when you turn off the power on the radio. Only the V2's do that. It only works via the 3rd channel or low battery voltage.

"The Killer Bee will automatically kill the engine during: radio glitch/loss, low battery, bad connection, or total battery power loss. You can also make the Killer Bee kill the engine anytime you want by pressing the transmitter's 3rd channel switch (Killer Bee v1), or by turning off your transmitter power switch (Killer Bee v2)."

Just watched the video and according to that the v1 should kill the engine when you turn off the tx as well as if you activate the 3rd channel.
The killer bee is supposed to start flashing when you turn off the tx which mine doesn't, it just stays illuminated.
 
I guess I didn't realize that as i've been using v2. Kent will have to help you with this as im stumped. I always thought V1 only worked on interference or out of range, as opposed to total signal loss via turning off the radio.

Maybe it has something to do with the Spectrum module?

The v1 does it all i have the same killswitch and it works fine.. it also says that model 3pk with spek works with v1 on the comparison chart so why its not working for you who knows maybe contact killer rc and get an answer

I have now managed to get it working although not sure if what I have done is the right way to go about it.
What I did was turn the dt.3 switch to channel 3 as well and rebinded the rx whilst holding in dt.3 and it now activates when the failsafe cuts in.

So turning off the TX makes it blink now?
 
Nope not blinking, the light goes off as it does when the 3rd channel is activated so I guess I have managed to get it working by getting the 3rd channel to activate via the tx's own failsafe rather than the killswitch sensing a signal loss.
In theory I guess it will still work ok providing the failsafe always cuts in although I hate things not being as they should be.
 
It's probably just something very simple and stupid lol.

Your Spektrum failsafe is overriding the kill switch. You just need to change the failsafe setting.

Go into the failsafe setup. I assume you know how to do that. Its explained in the radio manual.
During the failsafe setup mode you need to switch the Aux to the off position (Killer Bee LED off) and proceed with the failsafe setup. That should do it.

When you turn off the transmitter power the LED on the killer bee should turn off and the engine will die.

Just a suggestion, Kent can you add a (sub text) or foot note on your Radio Compatability chart for the 3pk with a spek module.
That says you need to override the failsafe?
Might make it easier for people down the road.

The way I have managed to get it to work does actually turn off the led but after watching the v1 video I was under the impression that the led was supposed to flash when it loses radio signal not turn off altogether so I was obviously trying to get something to happen that wasn't supposed to lol.
