Evening people, just got the King Cobra diff cover and its a struggle to slide it over the stock plastic diff housing....any ideas how to make the job easier?

don't forget....if its so tight to go on.....how do you get it off for maintenance?????????

should it be hammer tight? mine was just a good push by hand...
 
when i fitted mine although it was to a alloy diff it was still a tad tight and needed mr hammer to gently tap it on,,it may just be the plastic diff housing has got hot during its use and may just be slightly out of shape

evening,

Its a new plastic diff housing and I did have to use a wooden mallet...quite tough to get on. now its on the KC cover over hangs, as if it its longer than the FG stock one? So either it is longer or I got to force it further?
 
i think its got a thin lip that seats into where the diff gear is fitted so cover ends up flush more hitting may be needed mate for the last couple of mm
 
yeah, I did make sure the thin end was against the gear.....out with the mallet then!! There is no way I will be getting it off in a hurry.
 
try undoing the 4 screws that hold the gear in place then hit it home should nip up then mate maybe the gears just stoping it retighten once its gone all the way
 
managed to sort it. Removed the diff cover with firm taps with a hide mallet, not as much force needed as I thought. The cover was on as far as it would go so I filed, wet and dryed about 2mm off.
