Km clutch shoes exploded?!

Hey guys,
Noob here to the Baja world, moved over from nitro.
Just got my first km. so far I love it, except that my clutch apparently shattered and I'm still in my break in tank!

I'm replacing it with an actual hpi spring and shoe kit, but does anyone know why this would have happened?

Basically the shoe chipped off huge chunks jamming the clutch.

Wanna make sure this doesn't happen again! Thanks!

Also, one of the shocks look like it has the lock nut fall off. Anyone else experience issues with the shocks?

could have gotten a small rock in the clutch area.....hard to tell

clutch shoes exploded? what holder came with it? a open type where you can see and move the clutchbell? or the enclosed type that you cant see the clutchbell at all?
sounds like you have an open one, but again being that this is the R/C game most likely the shoes got heated and where not bonded correctly to the clutch shoe mounts, it happens even in 1/1 cars just a bad set every now and then
as for the shocks did you do a once over and make sure that everything is bolted and tightened down before running it? if not then this is one of those times that you should of could of but did not, double check the rest of the hardware to make sure its all tight

bad bonding job on the clutch shoe material to the shoe mounts,
happens more often then you think 3 of my buds here had that happen last yr. and they have hpi baja's,

looking at the shoes in my hand, it looks like you nailed it right on. The shoe part seemed to split right off the mount. Crazy!
