So, I was just sitting here at work and a thought came to me. I realize this wouldn't be the easiest or most cost effective way to accomplish a task that a lot of you already have done, but I just wonder if it would work...
Could a person buy an extra chasis, cut the sides off (or bend them out enough) so that one chasis would lie flat on top of the other. Then, using longer screws thoughout, stack the two chasis together and assemble all the components back onto the two. In essence, you would now have a double-thick laminated chasis.
Everyone is familiar with 3/4 inch plywood being much stronger than a 3/4 inch solid board. With that many screws holding the two together, it would be nearly like having the two pieces glued together.
The braces that I've seen on here look pretty simple to make, easy to install, and seem to do the job very well. But I wonder if a laminated chasis would be stroger still...
