Hi,

I have a 1/5th Shengqi petrol hummer and the petrol tank is far from liquid tight.

Therefore I am looking to make it liquid tight but need to find out the following info;

* What material are 1/5 RC fuel tanks (or nitro tanks) made from?
* What is the best adhesive to use on them? (plastic to plastic)

I've got little plastic pipes (push on) which I want to glue to the holes on the tank (where the pipes currently just poke through). These will need to be glued on to form a liquid tight seal.
Then I'll just push on the tubing ans hey presto no smell or leaking petrol.

Your help much appreciated,

Thanks,

Mark.

i used super glue to fix a tank that was leaking out of a bad seem. it was leaking pretty bad. i cleaned it up and spread some super glue in the seem. it bonded great and hasnt leaked since

I would say use epoxy or JB weld. Make sure you clean and degrease the spot you a gluing though or it won't stick.

Hi,

My seam down the middle is ok its all the pipes coming out the top which cause the problem.

The pipes are just pushed into the tank through holes in the top not resulting in a tight liquid proof seal. This means petrol fumes come out and when you are using the car petrol splashes up and out the holes.

I have found hozelock connectors for plant irrigation systems which I am looking to glue into/onto the tank.

I was thinking of using plastic weld type glue for the initial bond and then on the top layer araldite to build up strength and make it 100% liquid and fume proof.

But most of the plastic weld adhesives I have seen only work on specific materials so I wanted to be sure I was getting the correct one.

Thanks,

Mark.

What I found that works great is the Hgh temp gasket sealant that you can get from any automotive store. The stuff is fuel proof once it has dried. I tried 2 part expoxy on a nitro tank and the stuff let go after a while. Then I used some high temp sealant on it and the stuff does'nt budge.

Their is supposes to be a rubber gourmet that goes into the take and the fuel lines go thro the garment.
