Anyone following this?
I got hooked in 'the golden year' 2 years ago, when Audi and Peugeot were at each other's throats right up until the last lap - no 80% driving here!!
They were flat out for the full 24 hours apart from accidents and rain.

This year, in the 1st of 3 qualifying sessions, the Audis have already gone nearly 2 seconds faster than last year's pole!!

Hopefully Toyota can up the pace!
It's all on Eurosport - 410 and 411 on Sky.

NEXT YEAR Porsche return. If Audi and Toyota remain, Porsche appear, and the 'big rumour' is the FERRARI MIGHT come back as well ..... !!! LMP1.
It's fascinating stuff.
It's like 20:20 for a full test match duration - if that means anything!!

I can't believe how SLOW the RACING FERRARI 458's appear!!
A Fezza 458 is a damned fast road car.
These are set up for racing - perhaps the intake is limited a little, but everything else is race optimised - tyres, suspension, etc.
The LMP1's make the Fezza 458's look like Morris Minors the way they swoop on them, particularly on the corners - they MUST be cornering a near F1 speeds - for 24 hours ... great stuff!!

An interesting last couple of hours with the rain coming down! Plenty of action and twitchy bum moments. I was lucky enough to go over in 2006 but will have to get back over there in the next couple of years, it was a fantastic weekend, not just the racing but the all round experience and friendly party atmosphere.

Toyota, and particularly Anthony Davidson - best F1 driver at Team Honda when JB and Rubens were there (he was the 3rd driver who regularly helped set up the cars, going faster than 'the main 2') - took the race to Audi.

Sorry for #1 Audi and the 'crank regulator' or whatever it was that required the major surgery last night else it may well have ended a 1-2-3.
Last couple of hours were quite frantic. Audi might have maintained a 1-2.

Very sorry for Team Aston and particularly the family of Allan Simonsen.
A harsh reminder of how potentially dangerous motor racing still is.

Can't wait for next year!!
PORSCHE ARE BACK - and a hint of Ferrari as well!!
