Taking my new Km29cc car for it's first run tomorrow and figured i'd ask about the break in procedure. Both my fg's i owned were pre owned so i didnt worry about engine break in. Advice?

The engines are way bigger than nitro so the tolerances aren't as critical. The piston rings also take up some of the slack.

Whack some normal fuel mix (25:1) in and treat it like you would a new 1:1 car, don't be too harsh on the first tank (only short bursts of full throttle), then shake the bolts off it thereafter.

On a serious note, check out the FG website, they give you a good idea how to do it.
As Ross (Brawn) said, the tolerances aren't as tight / critical as the nitros, but I believe it helps to get it right.

start motor and get it warmed up (maybe 2 minutes.)

when you first start, you may need to adjust the Low needle a bit to keep it running. tweak the L needle to keep it running, then back out the idle screw (large screw below 2 jets) to lower the rpm. ( i do this to make sure my idlle is low, so i know my L needle adjustments are good).

get it idleing well for 2 minutes to warm up.
set the H needle at 2 turn out, and start making some High speed runs. adjust the H needle until it runs strong up top, clears out well, but stay on the side of rich. thats whay i start at 2 out. it should be VERY RIch, and i ll make some High speed passes and tweak the High jet until i have its running strong up top.

then i just run the piss out of it for 20ish minutes never holding it wot for more than 15 20 seconds at a time.
after 20ish mins, shut it down and let it cool.

finish the whole first tank with this process. you may need to tweak the needles inbetween runs as well.

Ask Voo to show you his video of break-in ... :clown:

Lets say it works, never had an issue with my mills yet! If you were a lumberjack and bought a new chainsaw would you baby it and cut twigs for a few tanks??? NO,you would want to earn money and thrash it from day one!
I have done the break -in process to one of my engines and belive me it's the same as if you thrashed it from day one!

HERES HOW THE BEETLE RUNS NOW,no issues! bags of torque. http://www.youtube.com/user/jackobyte7#p/u/4/K9qCHqqJXQw

I just followed the manual for mine. 25:1 fuel mix, needles at factory (hi 1.5 , low 1.25) and took it easy for the first tank. Worked a treat !!!!!!!:party-time:

My break in procedure;;;

1st tank...full throttle
2nd tank...full throttle
3rd tank...full throttle
4th tank...have a guess..................yep...full throttle.

I used to be a baby my breakins but after trying voo's and Timmahhs full on approach I'm a convert (much prefer it cos I'm impatient to get running wot) i also contacted zenoah and they said first half tank no more than 10secs full throttle an 2nd half abuse wantonly...not quite their exact words but the inference was there. i ran 25:1 first couple of tanks and am now back to 32:1... checked the bore with the pipe off and it's perfect

Thanks for the tips guys,my first run will be tomorrow. I got the broken parts replaced and all i gotta do is get gas and oil and mix it up. Weather is gonna be around 40 so i am looking forward to tomorrow!
