i run losi 2s, 3300mh for my receivers and lighting,but i don't use any step down since my servos and electrics are all high voltage for 7.4v
if you running 6v servo's you need a voltage step down from 7.4 to 6v, you can find a regulator for those almost anywhere you see lipo's being sold

I know very little about lipo other than they're very popular amongst racers of most scales. I believe for some race series they need to be the hard case version and you'll need a charging sack to be safe.
