well working for a hobby shop and actually loving the hobby is a double edged sword, you basicly need a full time job to go with the hobby shop one, the reason the guys that work at the hobby town here work there isn't for a paycheck, its to support their hobby be it rc, train, models, or sports cards, only one employee uses it for a paycheck and to pay for his hobby as he's in college

It really has come to that, these kids working at the hobby shops have no love, joys or skills in this hobby. They are just there for a paycheck. It's better than getting out of work smelling like greasy french fries and spilled milkshakes...

We need to get workers that have a love for the hobby and a desire to help educate others to make this sport/hobby fun for everyone!

It's time to talk to owners and store managers, if they get enough complaints and lack of customer sales, they will have to listen or be forced to close their doors.

There was a local hobbyshop around here a few years ago, the owner took all the profits and blew it on hookers and his baseball team. Quite the combo huh? Needless to say, he didn't last long. He was in filing bankruptcy at the same time my buddy was and had to explain to the judge why he owed $50,000 to Great Planes and Horizon... "Well your Honor, I have a problem with women..." He was another worthless loser that was only interested in the profits from stealing from his customers.

One of the 3 that ignored me is the owner...was very obvious listening to him talk to the 2 early 20ish kids that he was the authority there anyway.

As much as I love hobby shops and have spent a great deal of time over the years thinking about opening my own shop, I don't think I would ever realy do it. Money isnt the issue. I ran hardware stores for others for many years prior to getting into HVAC feild and was quite succsessfull at it. But I just got realy tired of customers...well at least the bad ones. As years went on it seamed that more and more on a daily basis, people became nastier in general, expecting everything they abused and broken to be replaced for free or just buying tools to use for the day thern try and get refunds for no reason...and fight and argue, yell scream and just be nasty. Then there was the daily shoplifters. It becomes very difficult to keep you chin up when your masses keeping kicking you in the nads.

I understand fully, we went through the same problems back when I was running my buddies shop...

We had "Pocket Items" behind the counter and the only thing that was out on the shelves, were the vehicles. It would be hard to smuggle a Savage down your pants even with the crappy baggy clothes the punks wear now. I did have a guy come in and grab a T-Maxx box and run out the door like Carl Lewis, I was going to chase after him, but if you've seen my vids you can tell I'm not a sprinter  The funny thing was the box he grabbed didn't have the truck inside, the truck was on the shelf! Ha Ha Butthole! I could only imagine what he thought when he made it back to the "Crib".

We had a you break it you bought it motto and had a zero return policy, unless I knew you well enough to know that you didn't do something stupid with the part and then try for a refund. I was friends with about 90% of my customers...
