I bought a V1 5T.
Needs some work.
Center diff is shot.
How about a center locking diff? is it a good idea?
I have lots of Baja wheels/tires.
Do they rub? Do I need extended hubs?

Centre diff locker is fine and pretty common tbh among 4wd largescales, i have one in my dibby v2 which is similar to the 5t and ive just ordered one for my 5T, Monster Diff Locker is what you want, there are other methods out there to "lock" the diff, but the monster diff locker replaces the actual diff to a solid gear and its not expensive., But bare in mind using a diff locker puts more strain on the drive train (CVD's) so with a tuned/modded engine you may run into issues unless you beef up the drive train.

As for extenders all depends exactly what rim/tires, but i would get some anyway as they help with the handling, but don't go crazy on the length or it will just become a weak point, 1" max should be plenty as that pretty much adds 2" width overall.
