What is the best Loctite to use? I'm having problems with my new truck with the pins in the dogbones. I'm using Permatex blue loctite and it just isn't holding them in place. I thought of using red but at some point would have an issue getting them apart! Any alternatives???:(

Loctite branded is good but I have also used others with no problems. At the minute I have a bottle of Schumacher blue thread lock which seems like good as well. Try an engineering suppliers near you, they will probably have all the top brands available at reduced price compared to the local hobby store.

There appear to be different levels of permanence of threadlock - Loctite being one of the brands presenting themselves.

Generally BLUE is good, but the WEAKEST, for holding, but things you wish to remove and replace - nuts, certain access bolts, grub screws, etc. Most of the time, this can be replaced 'with a firm hand'. Head / hammer may be required on some occasions.
RED, is much more 'permanent', and heat / hammer is probably a must if you wish to remove the part.
GREEN I've seen as a 'next stage' and is pretty much 'welded in'.
There's a thread where other members of the Forum actually work with this stuff and have better clarified.

Certain manufacturers have CROSSED the red and blue, perhaps to deliberately confuse, for marketing, perhaps who knows, so ask questions before purchase.

ONE GOLDEN RULE: Once used, leave at least overnight to 'cure' before using the rig, or it will have little effect.

For Blue I did mean HEAT / hammer (you always need to use your head!!).

Wouldn't that hurt?

Loctite 243 or 248 (both blue, sometimes need a bit of heat) for general every day stuff
Loctite 603 for gears (greeny/blue stuff, it's bearing retainer) wheel squares and anything you really don't want to move in a hurry - when you do, one of these is the ideal thing to have and not much comes close

I've never had the red thread lock - what I've mentioned has always worked for me.
