So I am about to take the plunge on a Redcat X-SC short course truck and the only thing holding me back is all the stuff I keep reading about parts needing to be replaced after only 2 tanks of gas. Servos needing to be replaced, axles wearing out, wheel bearings falling apart......is this common in a stock machine? I am all for upgrading parts but I would hope to get a season out of the truck before I have to do so. I'm not bashing anything here, just trying to figure out what I am in for. Is there a difference between the truck and the buggy as far as reliability or performance?

For more tough machine out of the box get the MT or dunerunner!!!!! The X line is great but the upgrades that you named will have to be upgraded to be a more realable ride. The servos will be about the same in all RTR electronics is the first cut back to keep the entry level model low cost.

Yeah I guess I shouldn't have included servos in that. I really like a good servo since it's what makes it steer and stop. In fact, I would remove the entire radio system and replace with a Futaba or Spektrum. I assume there is some kind of aftermarket support for this truck as far as axles and wheel bearings?

I've been running my Dune Runner hard without any problem. Right now it's at the point where things like the fuel clunk filter, clutch and bearings are close to replacement time, shocks might need rebuilding. Normal wear items, parts/kits can be found at at one or more of the stores on the left.

I got an xb for christmas order all the upgrade parts hubs, servos, filter, carb and list goes on and haven't had one thing go wrong yet and been through 4 tanks...I love this thing and the only problem ive had is an exhaust leak so i pulled the exhaust and there was no gasket... Oh well i still love my buggy and when i put all my upgrades on i cant wait to see the difference the 990 carb and 8k clutch spring bring...i just feel bad for buying all of the upgrades and none of stock parts have gone bad its like im hoping for something to break...lol
