Thinking of buying a Rampage mt or mt pro.

How much power do these have have ? Will they spin the tires good on dirt and gravel on take off stock? It's heavy with a lot of tire is why I ask.

What kind of top speed do they have? I'm guessing around 35-40mph?

If they are lacking in power as far as spinning the tires easy on take off etc what can a guy do to get it to run more like a 1-8 nitro MT?

Clutch mods to take off after reved higher?

Pipe and if so best choice??

Carb? What choice?

Porting or cylinder mods? Who does them and expense?

Anyone ever converted one to alcohol and ported one yet etc? If so how much better did it run?

Any help would be great thanks Mark

The Pro is heavier.

They both will spin the tires in dirt or gravel.

Top speed will be in the low 30s.

A higher rpm clutch spring helps with the launch.

The DDM Dominator, the Jetpro, or the CPI are all good pipe choices.

The Walbro 813, 998 and 990 are nice carbs.

ESP makes a nice ported cylinder kit. OBR and Gizmos produce awesome ported engines.

OBR sells a alcohol reed engine that is sick!

If you want it to be like a 8th scale nitro you will have to add a ported motor and a obr reed motor would be sick

I agree with RCDAD but I do want to emphasize that this truck will not have the performance of a 1/8th scale nitro which is a 1/3 the weight. You can get close but the truck will be almost unrecognizable compared to stock.

There isn't any difference between the MT and PRO other than the PRO is all aluminum. Redcat sells a kit to convert the MT to a pro and sells the parts individually.

My personal preference is to at least have some plastic because the simple fact that plastic flexes in an impact aluminum bends. I'd rather break one 20.00 A arm than mangle the front end on a curb etc..

They are pretty peppy once you have a good aftermarket pipe I rolled mine a few times since I put my CPI tuned pipe on it due to the power increase.

All the companies RC DAD mentioned for engines and parts are good companies and parts from what I've heard here and other places.

These trucks might not be as fast as nitro. after having a REVO and having to constantly tune. This truck is so much easier to get to run well I don't use my REVO at all since I bought my truck.

It's a bit more work to run the alcohol, but the power and cool temps might make it worth it for some.

Yep. They are spendy.

The least expensive part of 5th scale is the price of the vehicle. :D

Have you seen the price of FG parts?

Easy to spend 1200 on the car and another 3000 on upgrades.

Thats why I got a losi. Parts aren't bad and tougher then poop out the box. Like 25 foot jumps and keeps going and goin.

There is a big difference between upgrades to make a vehicle dependable and full blown total overhaul performance and accessories upgrade. I have $1,000 in my Mt. That includes the truck, killer bee switch, hitec throttle and steering servos, Dom pipe, 5000mah battery, NGk plug and copper drive cup sleeves. Sure my truck isn't the fastest or flashiest truck out there but it runs good and I have a blast driving it!

I agree with Revo. Got tired of always tuning my Traxxas. I have no time for that so it went on Craigslist and finally sold it. Thank God! My RedCat MT makes me happy when I run it. With my son.
What you mean keep tuning your traxxas I tuned my revo Nd hav ent had to touch it since they are 100000x e easier to tune than any thing redcat makes
