I'm just getting into the 1/5th scale was looking at a sanwa mt44 and a sanwa mt5 for my hpi Baja 5b was wondering if someone might know which would be a better controller. Just gonna be bashing not racing or anything

Careful! Your getting into a "What's the best oil" question.

I assume using those radios your budget is $3-400? if so, lots of options. You only need 2 channels for Electric or 3 channels for gas. I don't go less than 4 channels simply because i like LED's. I've ran Spektrum and Futaba and if i were getting a new radio i really like the Flysky Noble NB4 for the $$.

Few guys on here ran sanwa over the years. @crucialRC I believe is one of them.
I prefer furaba for land based vehicles. A 3pv is a good budget radio, that has decent features for its price. I run several of my rc with one.
I've had several flysky radios and don't trust a single one of them/had issues with many of them. Only have one left, and it runs my rock crawler. No harm if it poops the bed running that.

I looked at some of the furaba radios looking at them is when I stumbled across the sanwas. I ended up buying a sanwa mt-44 gonna see how it does. And I don't like the flysky radios either. One of mine came with and older dumbo RC radio and I was reading they could go into tank mode which looks like it glitches the car out real bad.
