Well hello to everyone on here, I would like to start by saying this forum is awesome and I have got lots of information off here and seen some amazing projects. I am looking to start planning a project and wanted to turn to the forum for some advice. Any advice, tips, or personal experience would help. I have a small machine shop so I will be machining a lot of the parts. Here are a few of my questions, please feel free to add anything to the list.

Project Idea:
Gas 4x4 Stadium Truck, 1/5 scale.

Questions:
#1 what engine
#2 Belt, chain, or shaft drive
#3 Chassis material, aluminum or steel
#4 transmissions, recommendations or plans to scratch build
#5 Diffs, recommendations or plans to scratch build

When it comes to transmissions or diffs, I have a lot to learn about gear ratios if I?m going to build one. If anyone can point me in the right direction on that as well it would be appreciated!

thanks to anyone that can provide some insight ....

Do you just want to build a truck from scratch
Or upgrade a truck
The reason I'm saying is
It's a lot easier to upgrade than build from scratch
Like the diffs that's a job when there are great ones already made

I thought about that but I want to build one. I its not that I don't like the ones out there I just want to build one. Im planning ahead, I have to finish my CNC router first.

My advice is pick a platform and go from there
If you're going to have a big motor then choose the platform that will take it
The best you can get is the Losi right now
But they are the most expensive
