I know you all have probably heard this millions of times so sorry if it is a repeat, but here it goes.
I am looking to get back into RC but i can't tune nitro. So what are my options for large scale gassers? I know mcd, fg, and hpi are good any others i should know about? I do not mind building the car.

Redcat MT, probaly the cheapest you'll find, the quality is good, parts are cheap and readily available, very durable.

Unfortunately the only 2 that come in kit form are the 4wd FG and the HPI Baja 5b SS.

I like the hpi 5b ss, neat kit. Looks like there is alot of hop-ups included and there seems to be alot of aftermarket parts also. How hard are they to build?

easy to build really, very lil lock tight needed. most bolts go into nylock nuts on id say 85 or 90% of it. motor is prebuilt and ready to install durring the build.

if your familiar with rc kit building, you can have it ready to go in 12 to 20 hrs. if youve never built one, the directions are pretty clear and well layed out, easy to follow. everything is bagged in consectutive labeled bags for easy of finding parts. (you MAY need to search for one or 2 parts along the way, but for the most part, id say everything is basically grouped up in the appropriate bags.

is a good build, fun, and really gets you familiar with the buggy. when you have a problem, you ll know more about it, and be better able to diagnose your problem and fix it.

Hell Ya, Kits all the way!!! Even with a RTR you should tear it down anyway... The guy/girl building it is making next to nothing to build it, they don't care if it is RIGHT or not!!

Trip..

I think a good used one with some hop ups and the nessesary mods would be a money saver I wish i bought my mcd used cause i couldve saved alot, i ended up rebuilding it anyway.

I'm with you here...I tear it down to the bare chassis and build it up again before i even run so to me an RTR is a kit anyway

And as for what to buy I'm a rampage owner, great value, inexpensive to upgrade and great fun
