Hello all i haven’t been messing with my gassers for awhile now since my Baja 5t gave a small tree a little head on kiss and completely blew the front bulkhead and surrounding parts to pieces.
But I recently broke my feet in a motorcycle accident and been off work so I’ve been using my time to get the Baja back up and running along with a rampage Xr (rally) that I bought cheap last year.
Anyways enough blabbering and onto the real question, ive got the rampage Xr up and running now after putting on a new walbro 997. Which ironically is all that it needed! I’ve got it tuned and running good! It will drift around on pavement and it has no trouble screaming and getting on the pipe. But I know that there is surely more bottom end torque and response to be had at the low end.
So what do you guys do to fine tune the low speed for 0-1/3 throttle? As of now my idle is set about 1/2-3/4 up the tip of the idle screw which I feel is probably a bit much. But when I back off the idle and lean the low speed some I feel as though I’m losing some torque. Also the motor is 4 stroking under no-light load and up to about 1/3 throttle.
The difference is honestly very minimal so I wouldn’t say I have an issue. All of the threads on the various forums and the DDM instructions don’t reallyI just would like to know what you all do to dial in the low speed settings!
Oh I also found a thread/guide on a rc gas airplane forum that did mention tuning the low speed by holding the throttle about 1/3 open and adjusting the low speed screw until you hear the engine smooth out (stop missing/4 stroking) under no load. Anyone ever heard of this?
