Never seen a cnc mill before dwarfy?

The guy in the vid was just running a simple CAD program, funny thing was, it was in SAE... Nobody runs SAE anymore. Easy way to tell was the 4th decimal.

I run one at work, but it's about 20 meters longer and 10 meters taller than the one shown. I build stamping dies for the auto industry.

I cannot put up pics taken from work because I would be fired instantly, so these are just pics of the same machines.

The first is a vertical 5 axis. I run this about once a month. (there is a stamping die in the pic)

The second is a Horizontal 5 axis with the rotating table shown in the last pic. Note the dude running the control on the left, this gives you an idea of the size of this machine. This is my daily operated machine.

The last pic is the little brother to the second pic, I put it up to show the rotating table that I use on my machine..

freeking nora, that's a beast of a machine! I've seen quite a lot of large manufacturing set ups in my time (I used to work at a helicopter manufacturer, and now work with trains) and that has to be the biggest cnc mill i've seen.

must take several days to machine a large stamping die.

About 2 weeks actually..

I built 3 of the 7 stamping dies for the left front fender of the new Dodge Challenger. There are only 7 dies total.

The current project I am working on are the blades and center hubs for Wind Turbines for generating electricity. The blades have 3 setups and take about 4 days of constant machining per setup. The blades are 300 feet (100 meters) each.

I used to work on the Block Line in Toyota, setting up and tool changing.
Lots of procedures involved in making an Engine block i can tell ya..

Ours were cast though and then came to me to drill and mill..
