Been waiting forever for the Akill’s to come back in stock. In the meantime, since I had some unused Kraken Craptastic ATD tires on Kraken wheels and foams from my Vesla. I decided to try the MadMax Super Hogs Tires - Rear (186x83mm) and mount them on the kraken wheels and foams.
Boy oh Boy are these stiff bastages. I am not weak by any means and tried to muscle these on but nope. Instead of muskles I used the squishy bit between my ears. In rock crawling you get used to changing Beadlocks and trying different tires on 1.9 and 2.2 rigs. Some tires are easy and some suck donkey nuts to install. I learned years ago to take a longer bolt at 4 different points and walk the ring down while checking foam, rubber placement etc. Once you get down far enough you can install the regular bolt and finish installing in a star pattern.
I had the aluminum outer rings left over from my DDM Spoke wheels I built for the front setup on my Vesla. The DDM Plastic Outer Ring weighs 1.2oz and the DDM Aluminum 1.9oz. It doesn’t sound like a lot but 1.4oz of added weight up front is better than Zero.
With this size I can run them on my Vekta, Losi 5T or Kraton.
Now I get to do the other two.
