I got my FG Monster (with a Zenoah 260 engine) in february and have since then driven about 15 litres of gas through the engine. I haven`t done anything to the engine just switched airfilter often. When is it time for some maintenance of this engine? When approximately should you change piston rings, bearings, gaskets and so on. Now we are just talking about a car that is driven just for fun and not on the track.

How many litres have passed through your engine and what maintnance have you done?

Will the only thing you should do is Clean the carburetor especially if you run in dirt. I do that by disassembling it and u using a soft brush and petrol then lube the shafts and reassemble it again.
Second retighten the head and mounting bolts.
For the internals (Piston, Piston Ring, Bearings…) I don’t do any thing till it is time for an overhauling the engine. And that is much moor than 15 liters.
These engine do last for a long time as long no dirt go in them and you use the correct Oil Fuel mix (25:1). Also important is not to let the engine over heat by running it too lean (tuned right).
