can any body point me in the direction of a supplier of lexan under 1mm, so far ebay is the only place, thats in England please cheers:boat:

If you think about it you would need a sheet of Lexan about 5 feet by 3 feet to make a large scale body. The body in the links above are for 1/10 scales. I got all excited thinking about how to make a former and then it hit me...

...My FG body is 28 inches long plus 8 inches tall, (you have to take the height into consideration to find total length and width.) Plus you will need 4-6 inches of material to flatten out front and rear to seal to the form... So that's 28" length of truck + 8" tall +8" back down + 6" of extra stock for the front + 6" of extra stock for the rear. 28"+8"+8"+6"+6"=56" Or 4.6'

I don't have a big enough oven to make a large scale body! I thought about finding a couple electric grills to heat the plastic, but they are 50-75 bucks a pop and I would need at least 3. The Lexan at 5'X3' .080" thick is 50 bucks plus shipping from E&T plastics out of Dallas Texas (Google them) ...It's just too pricey for me!

If someone does it, let me know. I am just too cheap!

body shells are well overpriced i paid 30quid for a proline undershell and another 25quid for the top shell , i never new they were that easy to make yea there would be a bit of trail and error getting them right, but the saving could be huge wonder what the averege shell costs a with a sticker pack to make???????

I can make the mould easy, did that type of stuff in art college
if I make the mould for my 5t, can I get someone to do the lexan
part, with the oven etc?

cheers
Andy

ive got a plan of a vacum moulder done already, built a small version to practice on, the big one will do a shell the size of a 5t but im gonna make older style desert racers, got some lexan on the way so should see some thing soon

Chop if I make a mould will you vacum it for me?

I was thinking of a longer wheel base, so the shell covers the wheels.....
Oh and what did you use for your mould?

Cheers

I am not making copies, Im gonna make my own 5t shell, so thats not
classed as copping is it? :)

No mate as long as its your own design.. i meant if someone get's a.. lets say a 5t shell brand new for Hpi and started knocking out copies for that shell.. CSR260 you should do a small project vid or a step by step vid of your build.
