so today i took my TTruggy out for what may have been its final death voyage. im cleaning it right now and taking invontory on the carnage. its not looking good. from the chassis (bent in 3 places)to most of the suspension components. that also includes the motor(flywheel, head, piston). i think this will be the start of a complete rebuild with alloy and a killer mill with some excavators and anything else i can put on it. not sure on the shell. think i might go with and mcd buggy shell or the FS truggy shell. or an fg beatle body. it will take me a while to get all my invontory together and make my final decision, but my stock tt did well. RIP..

i checked the main bearings. they are just fine. no slop, seales are good. the cylender plating came off and i just kept running it till it wouldnt move. was hitting a sweet jump into a small creek. thats what coused most of the damage. its inventoried and boxed up for now. not much left of it. working on my list and trying keep with my rebuild budget. should be interesting, but its gona take me a while. :D

Sorry about your car man!!!

Now you have a bunch or spares for your other cars and for your next Redcat.

ya, it was bound to happen. the truggy gets the blunt end of most of the abuse. was thinking of getting a new TT and using this one for a parts car, but their really isnt to many good parts on it.

what kind of plating chrome, chrommally ,i find this interesting, alum head with plating?

cy mills sometimes have plating issues where it flakes off inside the head. mainly from running lean. mine was scratched and the plating came off from their. the motor was also packed with wet grass so it couldnt breath..

for the motor i will be putting back in the cy23 (have a nib 23 top end)with a lightend flywheel and an 813 carb and my side dom. my tt was a screamer with the stock 23 in it. im spending my motor money on a clutch, not sure wich one.

you know which one I recommend, I'm loving it. performs like a cold clutch, we both had the same problem, great when cold and bog down when hot but the 4 shoe is like cold all the time....makes a huge difference
im on the fence between yours or cathcasers. i like only having one spring. but i also like being able to adjust it in the truck for diffrent conditions. like you and alva. i wonder what the performace diffrence is between the 3 shoe and the(?) multi shoe that you have(yours has more then for shoes right?) my clutch gave me the biggest problems so i want to make sure i get the best one. its going to be my biggest expense(not bad for a 5th scale.LOL.) im lovin it. i can rebuild my whole truck for a few hundred bucks!! :D :D

Ya you won't get any better performance with the 3 shoe. It performs the same. That's prolly due to the same surface area. I took the circumference of my Elcon, which is pretty close to the Lauterbacher 4 shoe, and subtracted the length of the contact area of the 4 shoes and it comes out to be the same. I was using a bendable ruler so it wasn't exact but close enough for government work :) . The 4 shoe looks like it has more surface area but the gaps where the set screws are take alot away.

Pretty much I would recommend the 4 shoe if you want to make adjustments. I just tightened mine down today to do 10k launches but now I gotta pull the engine out to get it back to 8k which kinda sucks. It doesn't take much time with the Rampage but I kinda miss outside adjustments like with the 4 shoes. If you want to stick with an 8k launch I would recommend either one of the clutches just for the fact that the 3 shoe will hold that setting.

BTW, 10k launches are freaking the shiznits. It gives you the illusion like you got a big ass 40cc engine in there.

ya. i was thinking once i get it set-up, i'll leave it. was also thinking about the advantage of 9500k lounch. im going to need all i can get with the new cy23 thats going in it. the thing with the motor is this. i was happy with the side dom, 31/29 and the 23. i swapped it out for the ported 26.9 for more torque, but i didnt get it, probly couse of my clutch.

so this is where i am with my TTruggy. i managed to bend the chassis back(again). it was actually bent backwards in the center and slightly tweeked up front. im not going to replace it couse i plan to continue my non-stop abuse. there was only one broken arm, but the others were all bent and bowed in diffrent directions. i have a good amount of spares that i have collected(im noot teelllling:p). so here is what i replaced on the chassis:-all lower suspension arms-rear upper arms-front/rear arm holders-front/rear diff cases-front shock shafts( i love them.. they never leak!)-front plastic upper shock ends-2 drive shafts-front axles(chipped/fractured)-all bearing, except front/center/rear diff bearingshavent started the motor yet, but these are the parts i have on hand for it:-nib cy23. hand ported, lightened piston, modified stock crank(will take photos)-lightened flywheel(dremel)-(used)813-new cy crank bearings(from my on-road motor build)-my old side dom(not even scratched yet!)the grand thing about my cheap ass is that i have done all that with out buying any new parts. i still have plenty of new parts left over for the next re-build. this is what i need to purchase: i need some sort of clutch. i just might buy a stock cy clutch and 8k spring. i really want an adjustable to compinsate my teeny motor, but i cant pull myself to swing the $150 shells just yet. i need tires. for that i am going to try something against my better judgement. i will be getting the proline moab 40 series tires. they fit the 5b rim with some trimming. i think with a little extra trimming, custom "hard" inserts and tripple taping the inside it will fit and resist ripping.. i will see:confused:. i will be running my hardly used TT shell untill i figure out my clutch situation. i want the FG beatle shell and wing.. i also need new fuel line and servos(both). going with the 745 and 645. everything is ready to go back on the chassis wich i will do on monday.tires: http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/c.885035/n.1/it.A/id.3078/.f

you'll shred those moabs in no time, the rubber carcus is too skinny and soft. you'd be way better off with excavators
ya, thats what they say.lol. i ran them on my 5b for a while. had them front/rears. they held great when i modded them. but i am also skeptical about it. for 25 a set i can afford to experament. i really want to keep my tall TT rims. if these don't work im going back to the redcat pin spikes. you probly wouldnt believe how many gallons of fuel i have thru them tires..

I missed this thread until now. All I can say is I am not surprised you killed your TT after watching your videos I new this was bound to happen. Are you sure you didn’t do it on purpose so you would have an excuse to do another rebuild. ;)
