I wanna get the 2 speed for my Marder but i wanna use aluminum gears. What would be the best gear combo? And can i get them in aluminum? My marder is setup for on road use. I did use the serach in the forum but didnt find the answer i was looking for.

get the onroad version of the 2 speed for more top end. I would not recommend metal spur gears, I would stick with plastic. This way you have a weak point in the drive train insted of the diff. A $12 spur gear is much cheaper then a new diff.

alloy gears found

I use hardened alloy 2 speed gears , i've never had a problem with drive train, your anti shock rubbers tend to take the whipp out the drive, the guy is right it is cheaper to replace a $12 plastic spur gear, but if you need reliability with out the worry of melting gears every 20 mins, i would think of upgrading, have a look here http://www.gotpetrol.net/steel-gears-vf101.html

I ran the 2 speed with plastic gears with an esp ported engine and have only fried a few gears and it was not due to the engine, it was caused by rocks or something getting stuck in the drivetrain. If the gears were not plastic, the diff would have gone and my day would have been done. I had the 2 speed in my MB for 2 years.

The on-road 2-speed comes with 22/42 and 24/40 stock. At least that is what mine came with..

I already have a 2 speed on my MT, but they have all plastic gears.
I want to replace the 2 pinion gears to metal.
I've heard that the first, inner (18) tooth needs to be a special 2 speed pinion gear, but the outer smaller (16) can be any normal pinion.
Is this the case? & anyone have or know where to get them in the UK?
Thanks
