it took a back seat again cos worked 3 out of 4 weekends & now im away in nottingham. On holiday after next week & hoping to take it with me so need to get a move on!!

ermmmm nope! cant rush a good job mate!! hoping to get it running this weekend so I can take it on hols & give it a beach bashing :scared:

Well it never made it on holiday and Ive been working away again so still not finished  Looks like this will be my last week away for a while tho so should be able to get it finished asap  This must be 1 of the longest builds in the history of LSF :clown::clown:

Longest build ....maybe but I will see if I can get my mini rebuild done before you finish ...lol

I have started to pull mine apart again ...

fitting a few new parts and tweaking a few other bits...

hopefully it should be a bit more reliable when I'm finished

Well definitely getting the 4wd kit and it will be going on the beetle so the upgrade continues! I have just read through the destructions for the kit on the web ( http://rc-car-online.de/content/explosionszeichnungen/teile/umruestsatz_2wd_auf_4wd_en.pdf ) and to fit a marder shell you have to cut away the front section, full back section, cut a hole in the side of the shell for the throttle/brake servo horn (which cant be good in a roll over) and cut a hole in opp side for the receiver box to mount :w00t: The marder shells are weak enough without hacking to this extent IMO anyway :D

Its my birthday in a couple of weeks so the kit will be my pressie :cool2:

ROFLMAO...

Ben said what I was thinking...:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I can see you doing it quicker as you have a different end result..
first time round you had a spare car, this time its a completely different machine to drive..

just getting jealous as I would love a 4wd..

You have no faith boys :w00t: Will be picking up the kit on Fri 9th or Sat 10th March then the build will commence soon after......couple of nights after work the following week should see it done........he says :lol:

Been thinking about the re-build and will be taking the ally roll cage out of this 1 and fitting it to the marder. As I see it unless the bug shell is completely crushed, the ally roll cage is not doing anything so would be put to better use on the marder where it will sit directly behind the shell & offer better protection.

The blingy Carson wheels will also be going in favour of stock FG wheels & tyres for max grip. I spoke to the guys at rossmods and apparently the 4wd helps with grip roll but time will tell!!

Which engine would you recommend for the 4wd? I have a stock zen 26cc and the CY fitted to the bug with a DDM 26.9 ported head. don't know why but I was leaning towards the zen but cant make my mind up  Either way the FG tuned pipe will be staying.

makes sense on the roll cage...although being more rigid in alloy would make the handling a bit better making the chassis stiffer..but being used for bashing you probably wont notice much difference..

I would put the engine with more power in it as the 4wd will handle it easily

the dreaded grip roll should calm down with the 4wd as the front gets pulled away from the roll as the rear pushes into the corner..it wont stop it though.

unlike the 2wd the front is always getting pushed.

Deposit paid today with Rossendale Models on the 4wd kit for collection on my birthday at the end of next week. They did me a deal on the price so was virtually same as Hobbythek & Pitstop if you factor in delivery :happybday::party-time: Ive told family to get me vouchers so will put em towards the balance so looking forward to it now :D
