So, after me introduction I thought I let you know about my latest project.

I brought a Marder from the devil (ebay) and thought I knew it would need a load of major tlc, I was wrong, more like major surgery. I took it apart completely, even to making me own puller to remove the fly wheel and clutch casing. There was like 10 years of mud and gr(sh)it buried in there. Several bolts had been lost along the way and replaced with self drilling roofing bolts! The small link bracket on the large engine mount was missing, but that didn't matter as the gear carrier plate had been refitted with some over sized bolts and loads of packing washers. Whoever did this was also totally oblivious to the fact that one of the carrier legs are shorter to accommodate the engine mount link piece. Dohh, that might be why the clutch was dragging all the time!!

Needless to say I didn't feel like photographing it when itt arrived, but now :D

Motor fully cleaned and rebuilt, every bearing in sight has been replaced as are all nuts and bolts. No more wood screws either, all fixing are threaded and where needed Helicoiled. Lots of blue thread lock being used too. Oh, and the base plate is now flat

Had to cut (Dremil) off the old diff cover as it was so badly damaged and got the new top plate for the holders, then used the old plate to make the rear cross plate to help support this area.

Fitted the new exhaust pipe and as you can see the roll gauge is going to need a bit of adjustment. Had the engine running now and it sounds sweet :D Just wondering what body, Marder or Baja will fit with that pipe on, but either way I'm going to have to cut a chunk out of the rear spoiler.

More updates as work progresses, and the wife does or doesn't find out how much I'm spending ;)
