Hiya folks,
Just want to pur a few pics up of something I was working on today.I've noticed with the Marder the front shock tower has little adjustment on it and you cant really tune the front of it for different conditions .So here's a slight modification of the front tower.Picture one shows where the original shocks mount to the tower.View attachment 2738/Pic 2,is a piece of 1/8th flat bar(borrowed off my Snap-on box) rounded at each end and covered in masking tape to aid with marking.View attachment 2739Pic 3 is drilling the holes for the towerView attachment 2741pic 4 is taking the bares offso that it sits flat.Unfortunatly I cant upload the full set of pics due to the limit so I'll have to carry on next thread.

Marder Outboard Shock Mount.II

Right,I'll carry on,next is the mount secured to the tower.View attachment 2743Pic 7 is the new shock mount on the car.View attachment 2744Pic 8 is showing full compressionView attachment 2746 and No 9 is showing full extention.View attachment 2745The last one is the mount fitted and working.View attachment 2747.After a quick test drive the new mount made a hell of alot of difference. The buggy was more responsive in going into corners. The rebound was excellent and small jumps were soaked up much better than the previous settings offered.I'll probably take it out tommorrow and see how it fairs up on the rough stuff.Any questions just ask.

 This is a great modification. So simple yet over looked. This might be a great mod for my Firehammer? I hate how the shocks normally bang against the inside of the arm. With your simple yet over looked mod It may stop the banging. Again great idea!:cool2:

Trip, you changed your avatar!

We need to keep these mods up not only for are selves but this is one I don't think Slaw has done. Should keep him busy a while longer?:D

Took it out today and gave it a good thrashing. The mount stood up to the abuse really well and the larger jumps and hills were absorbed easily:)Handling is superb.
If you are using the standard shock tower this is a must! It reacts to steering imput brilliantly and only costs pennies/cents to make!(well in my case it was £52.23,the price of a new locking mechanism for my box:blush:) But if I was to go to the local fixings store it would be £3.00 for a metre of 1/8th flat bar.
Why not give it a go,you'll be suprised.

My brother made up a long shock tower for his Marder and has masses of travel now. :D

Damn!!! That looks like something the factory should have done. Very clean and simple! Can I get some more pics of it to swipe for Meli's buggy? I like it!

Question though, will this mod fit under the stock body?

The body does fit but you have to chop the nose cone off and mount it on its own at the front. The shock mount is too tall for the body otherwise.

Here's a picture of the reverse.
