If possible, you'll need to put the black casing on as it allows the air to flow around the engine correctly.

The air filter you've got on is a belting bit of kit BTW, have you got a filter bag for it?

ha ha wezg it nearly didnt look at this

took the head back off and checked everthing, seem ok put the head back on and it was fine don't know what was up with it, but it looks like thats what wrecked the other one

You should send that to DDM mate.

At least you have found it this time..
+1 on sending to DDM

Its a good thing to check and check again when building engines..
so far I haven't built one of these small engines but I have built loads of high spec engines...in 6 cylinder bmw , 1293cc race mini engines and a few fords and vw's..make sure everything is spotless before and during building and as long as the parts are right you should be fine

hope its a screamer for you:w00t:

ye just had it out its so much quicker than it was but just a quick question to you all
i gave it full throttle for a second (just couldnt help myself :p) and it seemed to stick on i could hold it back with the brakes but was ticking over higher enough to engage the clutch. anyway shut it down and started it ticked over normally, it did this twice.
any ideas ive looked a the throttle and brake linkages they seem ok maybe its the new gasket thats fouling slightly
any ideas

Is the throttle arm returning to its idle position but the engine still screaming? If so it sounds like an air leak. Start it up & let it get warmed up then methodically spray WD40 on all the joints to the engine. If the engine note changes (it should drop in revs as you will be plugging the air hole making the mixture richer) you have found your air leak.

Forgot to say.....with it being a new head you will have to check the head bolts after say 10mins running to ensure they are still tight. They may need nipping up so check them first before you go for the WD40. Check them again after another run.

+1 all good advice and along the lines I would check for too..

What was causing it then???

looks quick... it don't take too long to bed these engines in..

in other forms (not rc) people buy them and don't bed in so you should be fine if you have most of a tank through it already..

you cant take it easy for the first tank or 2 if the engine is in a chain saw or a grass strimmer can you??
