Hi guys...need some help.

I got my stock (except Jet Pro pipe) Marder cleaned up and ready to run after sitting all winter. I can't get the primer bulb to fill with fuel. The fuel lines seem a little hard from age, but can't find any splits or cracks.

Any suggestions?
 
Fuel in the tank? Are the feed and return lines installed correctly? Pull the fuel lines off and make sure you can blow through them (lines could be clogged) or the fuel filter (clunker in the tank) could be plugged. Did you drain the tank last season?

Yes, filled the tank 3/4 full with fresh fuel mix. I have the larger (yellow) fuel line on top of carb, the smaller (black) line under. I'm going to the hobby shop today for new fuel lines to replace the old ones today, they should be replaced anyways. I'll check the filter (clunker) while I'm at it. I think I ran the fuel out of it before I put it away???

Spark plug gap should be .026 ?
 
yeha defiently sounds like blocked pipes or air leak...If u get new pipe an it still don't work u will have to check your carb, sometimes the diafram perishes if been left for a while......
 
Local hobby shop doesn't have one size of the fuel lines. They aren't knowledgeable or experienced with FG at all.

I found a complete fuel line set on LargescaleRC.com, may as well replace the whole set with filter.

I took the carb apart for the first time. Diaphragms and gaskets all looked OK, put it back together.

I'll let you know when I get the fuel line set installed if thats the fix or not

The fuel line set turned out to be for the HPI...not FG, so it won't fit!

I ordered a complete tank set from DDM. I know it wasn't the cheapest way to go, but this is an old marder, and I thought it was a good idea to replace the rubber stopper, filter and gas cap while I was at it. I went ahead and ordered a carb rebuild kit in case I need it, and a few other parts too.

I'll let you know what happens when I get it all back together
 
my black line is in top with a clucker on that end, i was having a hard time tring to prim bulb after a rebuild. completely forgot to put yellow line on bottom of carb

OK...now I'm really confused! One of us has it backwards. Is it me?
I've got the yellow on top, black with clunk on the bottom.

I'm going to get back to working on it today. New tank with lines, filter, and rubber stopper all installed. Carb rebuild kit if needed. Weather getting nice, I want to play! I'll let you know what happens.
 
The black line is the feed line it goes into the bottom, the yellow line is a return line it goes on the top. Remember it is impossible to over prime the primer bulb! It just shoots the fuel back into the tank.
 
Leave yellow line off and see if you can pump the fuel through....should spirt right out....where the yellow fuel line conects, if not then its the carb, or the black fuel line blocked.
 
No luck. I'm guessing its the primer bulb, and the rebuild kit doesn't include the parts to fix it. Now I have to order the primer unit, or a complete carb.

FRUSTRATING!!!
 
I hate to ask this, but is there gas in the tank? That got me once :lol: Make sure the clunk is laying on the bottom of the tank, do you have the clunk attached to the end of the line? Can you blow through the lines?

Pull the spark plug out and drip a few drops of fuel through the plug hole. Start the motor, see if fuel is pumping into the bulb under it's own power. Pull the plug and do it a few more times, sometimes the seals dry out and when you get some fuel on them they tend to swell back up.

I GOT HER GOING AGAIN. I ended up ordering a complete carb (603). Thats what I should have done in the first place instead of trying to fix the old one!

NOW I'm happy I've been having the dog poop in the FRONT yard!!
