Ok I have never asked a question like this before but I am going to pick up either the MCD or the FG.

I do most of my driving on grass were theres lots of hills I go ripping off of. By no means big jumps or anything though. At most maybe 3 feet of air.

I would really like to hear your guys thoughts as I have a 5B and a 5T but want to make the next step but want to make sure I get that one more suited to my needs.

Dude if you have wat u say have (T+B) leave the MCD well alone for wat u wana do !!(unless yer gona race !)
they can bash , but they are high maintanence !
i had a fully sorted mcd baja 1000 , an it jus cudnt handle the bashing (an isnt cheap to repair)
as for the fg ,, well you wont use it like u use yer t+b , the trannys cant hack the abuse .. from wat iv seen over the years,,
id rather spend the money on me T+B ,
dats jus my opinion:)

why not consider a nutech? vancouver hobbies is the canadian distributor and has a sale on them right now. I like mine. I have fg, nutech and redcat sitting here. 4wd is a blast, especially hill climbs and such. less chance of getting stuck. I think a 5t is going to be a purchase soon though, just cuz they look cool haha

As for jumping FG design cant jump anything near like HPI desing. Suspension has just so much more travel on HPI I think. For me tracktion hasnt been big problem on grass but on loose surface or winter makes 4wd superior. I have found that most petrol cars problems are on drivetrain so.... more parts makes more breaking points. On other hand sharing power to more wheels makes parts last longer.... maybe haven't owned 4wd yeat.

Wicked,

For bashing the HPI Baja is hard to beat but make sure you get the suspension set up right. I had the SS and with hop ups included I found the standard SS suspension was not upto the job. Being realisitic 99% of people do not settle for a standard Baja therefore, it's well worth investing in the uprated suspension products like Ramtech springs frnot and rear, uprated shock shafts, compensation chambers and changing out the shock oil to match the weight of your hopped up Baja.

On the flip side the MCD V4 jumps very well being very stable in the air but it is really a race machine.

Both will bring smiles, or try the FTX Punisher, seems to be getting good reviews and it's very well priced.

I can't speak for a MCD, but I do own a HPI Baja and a FG Baja, and for what you want to do, I'd stay away from the FG. In stock form they are not durable at all.

gday mate, ive owned 2 fg's and one HPI (not for very long with the HPI) and I swear by FG and always will. I think they are one of if not the most durable basher out of the box. my FG MT did 40 tanks, other than upgrading the enging mounts and spur gear to alloy its all stock and ive had that 10ft in the air. i also have a fg baja 4WD, upgraded to alloy spur gear and will be getting alloy engine mounts. done over 15 tanks and other than breaking a shop cap thanks to a head on with a FS haven't really had many issues.

i don't know much about MCD but their new V4 seems to be getting excellent reviews everywhere.

Been bashing a number of times with the V4 MCD and a number of guys on here will testify that I have rolled it following Jumps etc. at high speed and it's come through with flying colours. The V4 is very tough although is not to cheap to buy but it also allows you to go racing when/if you change your mind. Very stable, fabulous brakes, incredible handling and even on standard 26 engine......fast.

ive done about 20 tanks in my FG 4WD and only thing ive ever broken thanks to a head on with a run away FS was a broken shock cap, $5 part and back in action again.

for racing hard to go past the MCD but for bashing i don't think there's a tougher unit out there than the FG's.
