mcd?fg?nuetec?cen matrix5dont know what to buy?

don't know what 1/5th to get.want to spend money wisely,leaning towards mcd because of reliability,quality is high,everybody keeps telling me stay away from cen,price is few hundred cheaper,matrix5 does look like a mcd clone.are parts interchangable?got a quote from local hobby shop for a mcd blue mt,with motor,no receiver/servos,for $1,500 can.:helpsmilie:is that good?like fg but guys tell me theres drivetrain problems,belt drive?nuetec doesn't look like the same level of mcd or fg.please give me your experience and knowledge before i make a huge purchase.
 
i don't know what FG MT has belt drive!

ive had my FG MT for a few months now, every run is at a BMX track with jumps. ive run about 12 litres total through it and fried 1 steering servo because I was being stupid with it trying to jump a 6ft pile of tankbark.

I did strip the layshaft gear once but that was my fault because I meshed them too tight and they just destroyed eachother.

I only have experience with FG and XRC, they are my only large scalers ive had so get more opinions before you make up your mind.

look into things like parts availability and pricing. from my very breif knowledge of MCD they are built with precision, not the fastest things out there but also tough like FG. I believe their parts may be on the expensive side when compared to FG though.

The FG MT comes standard with a Zenoah G260RC, very powerful and reliable motor. Will life the front wheels out of the box, put a power pipe on it and it will flip onto its roof if you don't install a wheelie bar!
 
FG MT 4WD has a belt drive to the front.
Many times I would have liked 4WD on mine, to stop the truck doing power-on donuts everywhere. Traction is limited and requires some skill off the line - my impatience cancels any skill I have. :clown:
FG MT is solid - almost 'carved out of stone'.
 
The MCD's run terrific. I have had mine on hard packed dirt and i could drift it all day without a problem. It's not the MT but the Baja 1000 truck.

You can't go wrong with MCD's shaft driven 4WD IMHO!!

+1 on mcd mate...ive had my race runner for a while now....can corner flat out...an it drifs like a gooden on nearly any surface...you can also change form, to MT or baja with not much more than wheels, body, an mounts...mine is cool!!!!!
 
i love my fg marder its only 2wd but its fun may look into 4wd conversion at some point but not to bothered as power is nothing without control i with wagon on the mcd front its a wicked set up just a bit pricey though mabye a 4wd fg plus some change for some upgrades would do you have you thoght about second hand theres some great bargains to be had plus most of them have been upgraded already plus it would save you bundles i would love a brand new one though but its not going to happen plus ive spent well over £2500 on my marder now but its what ive always wanted spot on
 
Ive owned Dynamic, FG (many), Shenghai TQ, Hobby Pro, XRC, Redcat and now a Nutech. I can't comment personally on the Nutech yet because I have only been able to idle it. I love FG but more for a personal thing than anything else. other than the wonky servo problem I am really liking this Nutech. I am going to convert my fg to 4wd too though, but I will use it more rally on road type stuff. I think for jumping an HPI Baja is the ticket. I've driven them as well and they handle rough terrain really well, just not 4wd...

Most of the guys, not all, I have met with MCD's told me the difs are the weak point and super expensive to fix. again that is just going by someone else's opinion. I don't think FG's are really rough track oriented myself. they can bash great. handle good around a groomed track... the shorter wheelbase make them turn sharp but more of a handful in the air. The Nutech buggy is almost as long as my friend's baja, and would be as wide but he has extenders on... still close.

the fg clones are ok but need to upgrade parts to fg stuff to make them dependable. the dif cases uhhh
