I'm window shopping for an MCD XR5 and was wondering if the XR5 Pro vs XR5 FT-R is worth the price difference? I know there's a lot more alloy parts on the FT-R but it is worth ~$876 more. The Ultimate is out of my price range.
Overtime I could upgrade to Taylor RC F/R alloy arms and hubs among other parts. My Losi 5T and 5B came stock with plastic arms and hubs. There's no 1/5 scale race tracks near me so it's mostly for bashing. I'm also wanting to convert it to electric hence the "Big Bore Roller" from Taylor RC since it's a tad bit cheaper w/o the pipe but getting the gas roller includes the center lock brakes.
Question: for my purpose, 1) is the XR5 FT-R worth the added ~$900 upfront cost? 2) or would I be perfectly happy with the XR5 Pro? 3) is having an alloy rear/center diff housing a must or nice to have thing?
MCD XR5 Max Pro - "Big Bore Roller" = $1,299
MCD XR5 Max Rally FT-R Rolling Chassis = $2,175
