here is my new toy i got a month ago

and i was having fun with it until one day it gets really boggy and quits ( 1 1/2 tanks total) so i check all the common problems like carb tune and coil gap and still no go. then i tear the motor down and find this

well the plating in this motor absolutely sucked. email the seller and they went back and forth for a bit till they gave me at no charge a 30.5cc upgrade kit. but in the time i was going back and forth with the seller i bought my buddies spare 3 tank old cy 26cc from a baja 5b ss kit. now that im sure the motor will be somewhat reliable and i have a spare 30.5 cc waiting i started with the mods.

now this buggy is fun rips like it never did with the 23cc km motor

next up is some rpm control arms the matching front brace and some dye to remove some of the orange

Hi mate your baja's looking good, im glad to hear your've sorted it & are now having fun, i think these engines very are hit & miss i brought a brand new krsc-001 a few months ago & i've still not got it working properly the engine casing was well out making the mesh too tight so i upgraded to the ss engine, also the diff needed bining so i upgraded that to the Hpi alloy diff all at my cost as i was getting nowhere with the seller, its good to hear you got the 30.5cc upgrade kit out of the seller.

w13dle i too have some binding in the trans. but im going to run it for a bit as it doesn't seem to affect the way she moves and see if it will loosen up
 
here are some updated pics of my baja . cage is now an hpi item so its black. made a front bumper / chassis brace. and covered the sides of the chassis. and added some new rear tires

i like the vid for the haters. I have been building theese for years and used to a HPI all the way.. now I have a few and they all are some hybrid of km hpi and upgrdes.
 
looking good , shame about your 1st motor the plating can be a bit crap, but to be honest cy,s ain,t much better i went thru, 2 brand new cy 26 heads in less than 4 tanks of fuel. by the look of the pitures of your k,m motor it looks like its sucked dirt in thru the filter??

ya i definatly sucked in some dirt. i now only use hpi air filter due to that. i also just lost the 26cc cy motor as well. the bearings let go after a case seal failed.
 
I ran hard this last weekend with my KSRC-001 and it has pooped out, no bottom end at all, wont even spin out in dirt from a dead stop. I ordered a 28.5cc kit, should be here late this week, hopefully it will solve my problem. I have just about 2 gallons into the motor and its showing age already...

sounds like the ring , i had the same problem with a 23cc motor anyway a 28.5 should sort lol.
 
well its time to update this thread a bit. ok i scored some nice used rpm arms with the killer rc pro camber kit, i also got from santa the dogpile racing shock balls and dog balls for the tie rods, dark soul servo saver arm. any ways here are some updated pics
