Moo's roll cage ready for welding

worked on it this afternoon, all the necessary holes drilled and tapped the bottom holes for the hoop, just have to get it welded up now though it's as strong as the redcat one as it stands..LOL

thanks for the thumbs ups guys..hope to get it welded before next weekend, gonna add a brace from the hoop forward to the first bend. would really like to get this in 4130 chromemoly tubing cos it'd be stronger and lighter...maybe i should send the finished item to mr sprint for a proper workout...whadya think Rob?

I like it , great to see someone doing their own mods. The one feature I would like to see you change before tou get it welded though, is the fron and rear angle mounts , I feel most of the force will be on them when landing not on unload. if you put them on the inside of the shock tower on fron and back the bolts won't be taking all the force as they are now by design. It should be a easy change you may have to trim some tube after.

Very nice moo, Any cage is better than the stocker, man I hate not being able to acces the plug. Very good, Better than mine dammit. That is going to be so strong when it is all welded up. Lastly it would be cool to polish it up.

I had thought about putting the angle the other way round but the body mount hits my nice new pipe, was thinking of changing the mounts for something like clubins but then figured that the 4 bolts should hold it enough, I'll throw some grade8's in...as it's just a brace and not for roll over protection, strictly a body on item but I think I'll change the front around as you suggested it'll be easier to fab a new front mount when my asgard body arrives...when I make one from 4130 tube then I'll change it at the back too cos then i'll be able to run with no body again and it will have to take roll overs so will need to be as strong as possible, I'll also add another hoop to the chassis somewhere near the steering servos


Clubin I'll probably paint it blue.

Check out my cage post Mooman you might think of making the back seperate for ease of work on and pipe configuations. Also put some places to mount side nerf bars. I have a jig to produce the ones I made. They are just not selling well with the sad economic times in the USA right now. The pipe is a bigger market right now makes HP


I like yours it kind of has a rock crawler look to it in the back.
