More broken Diff cups :(

I seem to break a diff cup everytime I run my MT Now !! I have not jumped it in the last few runs just Gravel and Grass and Ditches :) anyway I keep shrearing the Diff Cups Where the pin goes through the shaft Inside the diff Housing I have broke like 4 or 5 now This ti it Rung off a Front one :(


I know that the hole in the shaft used to be smaller in Previous versions and they sheared pins NOW The Pin is Bigger and the WEAK SPOT IS NOW THE SHAFT OF THE DIFF CUP. I will post a pic sometime when i ger chance to sanp one


This is getting annoying anyone know where to get some HARDENED STEAL DIFF CUPS???? If so Please LMK
 
You can temper your own cups. Please send me one of them and I will have them analyzed. I haven;t heard of anyone breaking cups int he last several months at least.
 
Get a propane or MAP gas torch. Heat the cups until they get cherry red. Then pit them Ina ceramic mig and cover them with aluminum or another mug. The key is to let them cool slowly.

I don't think the new ones need the tempering. I haven't sold many in the last year.

[/ame]or mod them with a nice sleeve around the cup, like either cat 5 rings or weld on rings. since mine (v1's) were tempered and a sleeve welded on them they don't break.

I just heat the shaft past purple into a silver color and let them air cool. In the past, I've taken them to a knife shop and have had them temper them to a particular rockwell hardness. The problem is the shaft needs to be tempered not the cup itself. The cups didn't last long because they were softened and ended up getting big notches from the dogbone pins. Ever since then I've tempered the shafts only and have not had a problem since. Then again, I don't land on throttle. Even a 5B with all of it's tranny upgrades cannot survive it for very long.

Yea these where the new one i just ordered from U @ Hopups I sent them to U Did u get them ?????? LMK I need some Im having withdraws for not play with my toys LOL I blew the boat up and broke the cup on the MT 3 weeks ago or so :( I gotta rollin
 
I have the same problem with triggerman 77. Mine I broke rear diff cup and on the other side the diff cup had cracked where the pin is inplace. Waiting for the replacement and try to temper it. Is it ok if i used OVEN to temper the whole diff cup?

I got the bad ones. I will take a look under a microscope and then give them to Redcat.
