OK, it looks like I need to beef up my post count before I can do any replies on classifieds, etc., so here's some more questions, I'm looking for veteran AND rookie experience opinions.

Looks like a cheap target price used is <500 - maybe some upgrades like a good pipe etc. would come with it. How worth it is getting a new V3 for 650 compared to V1 - 2 @ the lower price. To put it differently, is the V3 the way to go absolutely or should I keep looking at used? I'm reading that the older model parts are hard to come by already and would rather not go down that road. On the other hand, If I get a new model and start thinking new pipe, gears, etc. I'm pushing $1000 and it's no 1/5 for me. I'll just live without it.

better yet would be to pick up a used v3 model with some improvements made to it. Keep an eye out for some deals. If you are more hands on, then the fun is in the upgrading and tearing it apart

And now I'm wondering if an XB is even better. Any threads you guys could steer me to definitively explain the difference between the old and new style rampage (V1-3 and X series) I guess the xb/xt stuuf is so different that they don't want to call it v4. The more I read the less I realize I know, but I always jump into this stuff with both feet and find out my mistakes later.

I just picked up a used mt pro v3 for $750, complete with upgraded servo's and batt. Some searching and you could probably find a v3.

Yeah but that's out of my range. Wanting one and being able to have one are 2 different things. With all my helis I research the one I want and then set a ideal low target price then sometimes wait a looooong time before the deal I'll take shows up.

If I go over 500 it'll be for a new one, probably an xt There's been a couple used ones from here on ebay that I'm tracking to see what they go for. Less than 500 for a nice upgraded one would be a real good deal so that's what I'm shooting for.

Muley I was thinking the same way driving myself nuts. Now I have a new XB on pre-order from rampagehopups for $530 shipped and I can improve on it as time and money (and the wife) allows me to.

i wouldn't get a V-1 because if you need a diff housing you my not find one i would go for the XTor XTB and be done theyre lighter and the tires you will find more selection and they will be easer on servos because of the smaller tire :D

My buddy is selling his rampage for 500. It was barely used, and has been replaced by his new 5t. It's in Nj though. Shipping is expensive on these bad boys

Yeah, I've been talking to him. Shipping will put it out of my range for now but still I'm interested. During my lucid times I realize this is just a winter sideline to helis and the amount of time I have for trucks in good weather is none. I have 8 helis and can't even find the time to fly them all on any given day. With 3 other trucks already I shouldn't even be looking but...........

During my frenzied addiction times I want a 4wd 1/5. It's like the little angel and the little devil, one on each shoulder, whispering in my ears, you guys know exactly what I mean. I've got a great wife; she agrees with the devil, well, most of the time

LOL - same here, my fiance' puts up with a lot when it comes to my hobbies. RC Cars, Fish Tanks (I have 5), and Golf! I picked me a good one!

If I could buy a V1 or V3 for $300 or a new XT/B for $500 I'd still pick up the XT/B. The new cars are much faster and more agile because of the weight difference. They are also less prone to breakage. That is just me though. There is nothing wrong with the current model. My last Rampage was a V1 and I had absolutely no problems with it. I would run that thing tank after tank with no problems. I actually wish I had that car back. I regret trading it. Sorry but I have to post the pics. I miss the dam thing.

i'll take that as a very informed opinion, thanks. That's the kind of influence I'm looking for. Just the fact that they come with a decent (looking) pipe and are only a little over 5 hun brand new has me leaning towards an X. From what I have read these Feb 4 units are the first box of production models to go out right? I hate to be a beta tester on something I know so little about, but nobodies hitting me over the head with a primo old model for 3 hun, so I just have to decide between the buggy and truck. I run mostly on sand or forest floor, there is no real dirt on this sandbar where I live, so wider sneakers are the way to go, but I think the XB would be truck enough to hang on the super loose stuff I have to play on, and I like the way buggies look. I guess I really want an "X Truggy". Any other major difference between the two models?
