Hi guys. I have been reading a lot concerning different pipes for the XT on the forum. Question: Is the stock pipe thats comes with the XT that bad? It seems to go pretty quick to me. If it is poor, which pipe fits without mods. I have no equip to be welding and such. I would like to try a XB body, then a side pipe would help I think. I really value your comments. I know you have talked about this subjest lots over time. Regards, new to RC Alan

For starters is aluminum so it will melt and or crack. It was not designed to increase performance. It does look kind of cool, but thats it. By adding a good tuned pipe you will see around a 1.5 - 2hp increase. When your only starting around 2.5hp the a big improvement. Do some reading on the topic. Every thread mentions something like "wow I can't believe the difference it made". You will not be disappointed. :)

The engines manual states 1.7kw @ 12,000rpm That equates to 2.28hp.

I know everyone is going to say the Chinese don't know how to rate their engines. However, if you take into consideration those numbers are just based off of displacement, fuel consumption, there probably close. If you leave the stock can on, run 25:1, and leave the carb at the base settings, 2.28hp might be on the high side.

We all know how to squeeze more hp out of them with a better carb, good tune and a good tuned pipe. These engines also rev higher with a good tune which = added hp.

IMO it makes sense. I wish I had access to a dyno. It would be fun to play with.

Now here is a finely tuned exhaust system- no doubt produces massive torque to haul the chow hounds around. I have seen the locals in eastern oregon get a brand new truck, cut holes in the bed - run pipes just like the ones in the photo right up behind the cab. no kidding-- Its like going to the circus and not buying tickets!! Whats really funny is seeing one of these poppin jonneys come out of the woods with an empty bed- and a little folding trailer loaded to the hilt with the saw sticking out of the wood- do not want to scratch the bed of the truck. lol!

I see people down here running stacks on new trucks also. There is even one I see from time to time with the stacks painted like cigarettes. LOL

I always try to get a picture but traffic never allows for a good shot.
