took my baja over to my local park i,ve not used it for months so was taking it easy, then some guy starts talking to me about the buggy thats nice is that as fast as it go,s??? no i says thats half throttle. i then gives it a quick blip of full throttle just to show him it sprung into life for about 2 seconds then just died and came to a holt, must be a bad plug so changed it , but it seemed way down on compression. so went home to do an autopsy on the motor only to find the locating pin for the piston ring had somehow came out the piston and jammed the ring to one side. but had allso wrecked the piston head and bottom end.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

i have got a load of engine parts i could build a 23 or a 26 but been looking at 30.5 kits they come with a stuffed 2mm long stroke crank head piston and gaskets., my zenoah is savable the head has a small score but there is some metalic bits in the bottom end and the piston is shot but still looks new,lol

I personally have never heard this happening. Really surprise it being a Zen as I been told how much better they are then a CY. Are you going to build a 2 or 4 bolt engine? I have a motor I built with a OBR race ported 30.5 that runs really well. I recommend if you get a 30.5 kit to get one that is machined for the stroke not one you have to stack gaskets or run a thicker gasket. This is the kit I am running.

I bought a new set of 4 bolt CY cases for $28 which will be my first 4 bolt engine. I will say so far I have never had a problem with any of my four, 2 bolt engines. I am hoping to put a OBR Pro Stock 30.5 kit in it. Their Pro Stock line is putting out 1/2 to 3/4 more HP then there Race Ported line of engines. This is the kit I am hoping to put in my 4 bolt CY cases. They claim 5.5 HP.

yea i like the oneil 30.5 kit, but think i will be going for the stacked gasket option i,ve seen 1mm copper gaskets would i need 2 or maybe 3 ?????????

What I do not like about stacking gaskets is you are raising the cylinder and changing port timing. I know it is not a whole lot but on these engines does not take a whole lot. I never ran a stroker crank with stacked or thicker gaskets but have talked to those that have.

I think but double check you can get away with one 1mm copper gasket but ALWAYS check your squish. I personally do not like the copper gaskets some do some do not guess this is one of those things that you have to make up your own mind about. But I do think this is better then stacking gaskets. If you do run a copper gaskets I recommend to anile it before installing.

yea i used to run very thin copper gaskets on my vespa scooter they were troublesome, paper just seems to seal better , i might just get a 29cc head kit and run a standard crank it would mean loosing 1.5 cc but it could save a whole lot of trouble.
