just picked up a MT V1 to mess around with , I have a MT already V3 but seeing as this one was cheap $300 with a bunch of up grades /jetpro side pipe with silencer / aluminum arms/ aluminum tranny plate / and a huge box of new spare parts , I though this would be better for pimping out without messing around and making mistakes with my new truck. my question is has much changed from the V1 to the V3 ,I see it has plastic tranny gears and I don't like that much so I could go belt drive or 2 speed on this one . are the diffs the same have they been up graded ?? any other problems with the V1 I should address .thanks a bunch for any advise Roger

PS : at very worst I have a bunch of cool upgrades for my V3 but it would be nice to have a back up machine.

The V1 had a smaller engine, plastic gears & gear plate. The dif cases are different. They also had the single servo set up.

thanks RCdad ,are the gears inside the diff cases the same, if so I could swap out the cases when or if they fail, the tranny plate has been changed to aluminum, the 2 servo steering upgrade is no problem I have parts here for that . I have a complete machine shop and was going to try my hand at a chain drive 2 speed tranny just for fun, it would be cheap to build as parts are easy to find.

If I remember correctly, the V1 uses smaller diff cup pins. So the gear that rides on the diff cup might be different. In my V2, that gear is slotted for two different pin sizes. You'll have to crack it open to confirm. Overall, you'll be able to swap them without any issues.

Also, the crown and pinion gears are the same.
