MT wont start after replacing base gasket

OK, so yet another problem, LMAO... (kinda getting sick of this crap) anyways, I just got in from replacing the base gasket on my MT with the 30cc fuelie engine. It started fine but idle'd very high before I took it all apart, hence the base gasket being blown out, so I replaced the blown out base gasket with a fresh metal DDM one, no problems there, easy fix, took about an hour as I work slow and get frustrated easily (had to take a break a couple times) also put on a new exhaust gasket for me Jetpro pipe. Everything looked clean and normal as I believe it should, Took it out to fire it up, it turns over easily and fine, had the choke on, primed it, pulled pulled pulled, nothing, tried again with half choke, then again with no choke and full throttle in case I might have flooded it. Pulled Pulled Pulled, Nothing, Now I didnt check for spark because it did run before I took it apart, I pulled the gas cap to vent that because sometimes thats the cause of a no-start, that did nothing, I topped off the gas tank to ensure fuel was there, Primer bubble is full and has the pressure, lines are correct, everything is how it should be, What the hell did I do and why wont this beast start ? I'm guessing I should probably reset the carb settings as I did play with them trying to adjust the idle before realizing the base gasket blew. What are the settings for the 30cc engine ? What else should I check and go over? I wanna bash later today, gettin sick of bein down and only having my boring nitros to toy with... Forgot to mention my spark plug was recently replaced with an NGK so I don't believe that would have went bad sitting for a week...

Standard carb settings (Taken from my Zen manual) :

H needle - 1 1/8 turns out

L needle - 1 1/4 turns out

If you think you flooded it, pull the plug and let it sit for a few hours and try again.

If you blew a head gasket, check the coil gap.

How would I know if the head gasket is blown? The base gasket was defiently shot and that I suspect was giving me the extreme high idle that couldnt be fixed with carb tuning or idle screw adjustments...

I just don't get how it started within 3 pulls with the blown base gasket but then I replace it and now it wont friking start... These things are easy to work on thank god but boy are they playing mental games with my temper....

A couple things: Make sure the killswitch button isn't stuck. Also, if you took off the coil, make certain there is a business card gap between that and the flywheel. If there isn't, that could cause you some headache.
 
What gasket did you replace? The gasket between the cylinder and the crank case? I think we're having a terminology issue. The head gasket, or base gasket is the gasket that sits between the cylinder and the crank case. Here's an example:

Where is the gasket located? That'll make it easier to identify and then work through some possible solutions.

I understand your frustration, I've been there. Stick with it, it's not as difficult as it seems.
 
I replaced the gasket in the pic, I took the head off and the gasket under that was replaced.

What should I do next ?
 
Your missing the most important rule in working on a tempermental engine:

"Always, and I mean always, have a 12 pack handy when working on a female dog of an engine."

My other rule when working on a tempermental engine:

"Give your wife the heads up not to come outside and complain about changing a lightbulb as she might get a hammer slung at her head."

LMAO!!!

Thats why I left at midnight once she fell asleep with the baby and went over to my shop and did my thing. That way I didnt have to hear any non-sense about my toys, sadly I don't drink, I'm on alot of pain meds, etc for my neck/back injury...

Ride on brotha, love what you wrote here Demon, that's funny! :D I got a small fridge in my bedroom, and I got a stack of brewski in it for just such an occasion, the wifey hates it when I'm cursing, so I get inebriated instead. I don't agree with giving the wife a heads up though, don't have the balls to do that, she'd kill me and feed me to the dog. Besides, it'll be a good break to get away from my truck for a brief moment if can't figure out what to do. So, if she says change the damn bulb, I'm on the case :D

Keith, I was just thinking about all these crazy things happening to your ride and I just had a thought, if you're really dying to bash and sounds like your issues are not gonna be solve anytime soon, how about buying another motor? So, now you can bash and when you're not, you can continue working on your old motor and doing so, you'll have more knowledge as you go along about the inner workings of your motor, and....you got your ride ready to bash any time you feel like it. Stupid idea, I know. But I've done it, so now I got a good working spare motor waiting in the wings should my mounted motor quit on me. I was able to fix my spare motor reading posts and asking for help in this forum. I was frustrated also when I could not fix the damn motor and I wanted to go out and bash. So....with a bit of convincing, my wife said, "yes get one!" :D Am not sure the exact mount I paid for it, but it was less than $300 for a brand new 30cc motor on ebay. Hope this helps. Yeah that is a good idea bro, but the wife aint gonna be having that, its bad enough shes pissed im about to buy a lexus rx330 when were trying to get our first house... Women! I tell ya, Cant live with em, sure cant live without em either...

I do want to bash badly, I also have two t-maxx 3.3's and a savage x 4.6 but those just arnt fun after experiencing the 1/5 scales!

I know it'll get fixed soon enough, I jut gotta ride it out and it'll be worth it once its fixed. I'm manic/ with bi polar so I tend to work on my truck at like 1-2-3am... I just kinda bum around all day, sleepy and drowsy, being a manic sucks!

Keith, click this link Deluge got here. I did and taught me a lot of things about my carb. It's a bit intimidating the first time around but once you read it over and over it will start to make sense. in fact it made me so confident I think I'm gonna work on my backup fuelie just for fun. My bud do wonders with aluminum and he built me a motor stand so I can work on it when it's not mounted to my MT. I dunno, I keep getting conflicting opinions about running a motor without a load on it. Some say, it's bad to run your motor without any load on it. isn't that what they do during dyno testing? I know it's true for nitros and I learned that the hard way, but we got gas engine now. Deluge, what your opinion on this? Should I stop running my motor this way?

I've never tried it, but I've seen a few guys run and break in their engines on an engine stand. I think as long as you don't hit excessively high RPM's for long periods, you'll be fine.
 
Gonna take the case off later today if I'm not in a pissy mood and check the coil gap and all connections! doesn't hurt to double check everything, Anyting specific I need to look for? Also gonna get a new spark plug and replace that, I pray to god this thing fires up after all this...
 
It'll be a lot easier if you take the engine out and work on it. This way you won't be tethered to the chassis. Look for the usual, damaged gaskets, loose bolts, inspect the intake gaskets, check the intake manifold for cracks, check the crank seals for damage, etc. When you took off the head, did you check the piston and cylinder for any obvious signs of damage?

Yes, Everything looked great, just that blown gasket was the issue...
