The engine in my MT5 has a FG pull start on it, and a label saying CY followed by a serial#. The cylinder has 28-34 on the clutch side and the carb is a walbro 668. Is this stock eqipment? I bought it off ebay, and would like to know what I'm starting with. I have seen some retailers say the fg came with a zenoah. I know the cy is similar, exactly bow similar though I don't know. Thanks in advance

The CY is a clone from the Zen. But out of the box the Zen is much more powerful than the CY. The Zen will outlast the CY. The CY and Zen should reduced the same power if hookup with the same upgrades.

FG for some reason has been installing the CY26 stock on some of the vehicles being sold. I think them saving money on the motor should be a savings to the consumer but that is another topic. I have not yet seen one sold from the dealers here but they now have the CY on there site. It is more likely a stock CY 26cc. You will be fine with it until you have fun and feel the need to upgrade.
What else does it have. A pipe? A pipe will make any motor come alive.

For a few months back in 2006, zenoah could not supply FG with the engines they required so they used the CY engines. FG sell vehicles with both Zenoah and CY engines but most distributors just want the Zenoah engines. You may have gotten one of the FGs that were selling wiht the CY engines. The pullstarts are interchangable so the cy pullstart may have went. I have a zenoah pullstart on my hpi baja fuelie(CY engine)

Thanks for the info guys. Unfortunately I don't think this was the seller's truck or that he ever ran it himself, so I'm checking everything, to see what I'm starting with. It did come with a Samba pipe and metal gears, so I think I'll be good for awhile. Stronger servos and some aluminum will come before a big bore kit does, maybe next spring though!
