It's Meli again :) I went out today to run my buggy n i didn't drive it for less then 2 minutes before i flipped it over once or twice n ended up breaking the back right a-arm.

Advice... Do I replace the broken parts with firehammer parts that i can get for $20 bucks?

Or should i buy FG parts? I have seen Trip roll his truck a couple of times now n not brake anything with his FG parts on his truck.

Heres some pics n another vid

Upper A-Arm....stay with plastic for now..ya need a weak spot for damage the may happen
....Maybe that A-Arm was weak before you got the buggy.......
You can always do a up grade later.....Was the weather cool out today running?
Plastic & cold don't get along very well........My suggestion is stay with plastic for now
run the buggy and have fun with it.............Slawhammer

there's an excuse to buy the aluminum uppers :D , you'll be glad you did anyway

I have a "home made" aluminum rear upper on my semi and I rolled and cartwheeled the other day and it just bent the plastic rod end. considering it hit on the wheel from about 3 feet up in the one cartwheel I was impressed.

could go into the argument about boiling the plastic parts, but lately I have had people arguing my old school tech lol... though it does help. myself, I would bite the bullit and grab aluminum uppers. less flex in the arm and less wear... besides, it's all about bling. that's why we break the plastic stuff so we can add aluminum hehe

It blew out the upper and lower... It was about 50*F out today, so I don't think it was because of the weather, I hope not anyway!! This car only had about an hour of runtime tops, so I wouldn't think anything was "On the way out" if you know what I mean?

I can't believe this... Are the clones really that cheap? Would the firehammer break that easy too?

She is so bummed right now, she is cleaning the house! She never does that!!

So, should we buy Hammer parts or just go right to the FG parts?

Thanks Guys,
Trip..

get the hammer parts from tower.....there pretty strong....
if later get the fg arms....
with the fg upper arms you will need a different turn buckle...firehammer turn buckle won't work.....just get the plastic for now to get back out playing....Slawhammer

OK here is what I just ordered...
Left and Right Rear Bulkheads
Rear shock tower
Front and Rear Lower A-Arms
Front and Rear Upper A-Arms
Front steering knuckles
Complete rollcage.. (The Mut is different than the Firehammer)

All for 50 bucks shipped!! Gotta love that, as long as the parts hold up better than the stock Mut parts!!

Can you guys think of anything else she is going to need, before I pay for the order???

Thanks Guys,
Trip..

oh my..lol.. just watched the vid and little meli looked oh so sad.. it was kinda of an odd hit the way it flipped like that.. better get them parts quick..

I just replaced the layshaft gear 3 days ago  But good call!

The parts I ordered will be here on the 16th... So I guess she has to wait.. She was so sad though :( I felt really bad for her. I hope the hammer parts hold up better than the hobbypro parts! I don't think I can stand to see my baby that upset again.

If the hammer parts are crap, I am going to bling this thing out with alloy everything!!

Any thoughts?

Trip..

i didnt have any problems with my hobby-pro, but it was on-road.. and i cant drive that well so i hit everything i could..lol.. i think you should be fine. was just bad luck

That was a minor jolting crash. No worry, could of happened to any of us.
That crash and the way the upper arm broke is EXACTLY why the FG's Monsters are upgraded with alloy upper arms. It is that exact break that it was recommended for. It is the weakest point in the rear due to that fat shaft drilling its way into the end of the plastic. The A arm failure is what allowed all the stress to twist the lower and take that out if that is what you said also broke.
Its not a dumb idea to save up as the plastic ones go back in and get a pair of upper a arms in alloy next time. Its a crap shoot on braking those.

WELCOME TO THE FIX IT OR UPGRADE IT GROUP!!!

It's Meli again :)
I have seen Trip roll his truck a couple of times now n not brake anything with his FG parts on his truck.

Take Trips out of his truck and replace your's in its place. Then get him drunk and the next morning explain it was him with the sour face and the broken parts.

Yeah, I hear ya!!! Did you see the look on her face BTB? She was devastated!

I think I feel her pain when my bashing is over when I don't want it to be.

I told her if the Duratrax parts break, I will yank my truck apart and give her the my parts! The whole reason for buying the buggy was to show her it won't break like her T-Maxx!! So much for that theory!!

Update.
I finally got my hands really dirty buy putting on a bunch of parts on the Mut.
1) New firehammer mt tank

2) I took off the xcan and put on trips stock fg exhaust and tube. that loc tite stuff sucks! it was hard 2 take out the bolts. took me 1 hour to do it.

3) Changed the upper and lower back a arm. the 1 that broke.

4) I took out the dift and cleaned out most of the greese with brake cleaner and put poster putty in it. it's like silly putty but harder. (now it does donuts everywhere)

5) I put on some cheap shock socks from ebay uk.

6) Trip made me put some orange stuff behind and in front of the dift (Trip said BTB told him to) rvt or something all i kno is its messy

7) I put on a stainless steel dift cover from fg.

8) I was going 2 put on the firehammer roll bar but the screws were 2 small so i put the stock crappy one back on

Socks. What a pain.

Lookin good...simple up grades ..always make it better...,
As for the rear diff..I use wheel bearing grease inside the diff..as much as you can get in there...The SS Cover is great.......your doing just fine....have fun and enjoy the hobby..
Best to you with your Mut.....slawhammer....

You will have to keep us informed on the putty. I was thinking of doing this too. I have used some of the stickiest crap in my MT and it still loves to throw one wheel. I told trip to get you flowers too. If he forgot just remind him BTB said to do it.
